I am at the point after seeing stuff like thi I am just ......stymied. Do we really want a law in every state ,where you see something like this happen you are an accomplice? Because you do nothing to help the other person...

It could be you that this is happening too. Hell, we already have laws for no cell phone use while driving why not a law for the above situation. For the guards to do nothing because of policy? Pick up your walkie talkie or cell phone and call the damn police! She (the assaulter) was smaller than they were.

I hope there is major outcry over this. Over and over again we see this blatent disregard of others and we do nothing.

They did call for help. They just weren't allowed to get physically involved in the altercation. There is no law that says you have to.

ETA: Any of these guys who would have gotten involved physically would have lost his job. I can't judge them because I don't know how badly they need these jobs.

Apparently they don't in Washington but several states have "duty to act" laws.

Criminal Law Capsule Summary

Statutory Duty to Act
- .....A few states have enacted so-called "Bad Samaritan" laws, which make it an offense (usually a misdemeanor) for a person to fail to come to the aid of a person in need under specified circumstances.

Duty to act. - EMTLife.com

U.S. common law dictates that there is no general duty to act in an emergency, however, at least eight states have enacted laws requiring citizens to assist strangers in peril. These states include Florida, Ohio, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. You can be charged with a misdemeanor for not responding to someone in danger. Citizens are never required to place themselves in peril. This allows for so much subjectivity that the laws are generally ignored by law makers and citizens.

Muhahaha, Gotta love how the one "guard" seems to be politely asking the gal to stop kicking the other chicks head in lol

can't say that it's rare thou, this kinda shit happens all the time, shit this kinda thing used to happen to me at school all the time lol

and ya gotta take in mind that these folks(the ones in yellow, who knows what the other folks were thinking) have so many "rules" of engagement that they couldn't lift a finger to save their own grandmother unless ordered to specifically in duplicate(not even from a bug bladder beast of Thrall lol).

Gotta love America, most of us are too scared shitless to take action when needed, and those who aren't have so much liability insurance agreements breathing down their neck that they can't do it.

haha, guess the most dangerous places around aint shadowy allies, but anyplace patrolled by Bart "rent-a-cops", if they don't Shoot you in the face, they don't do anything at all

I get that this happens all the time.

I got the impression from the news that they didn't do anything. Nada.

I think people used to care more about people and were more polite etc. This seems to be a value that is gone for the most part.

One company I used to work for as a guard had a policy that you were only allowed to observe and report, not get involved. Another gentleman I used to work for started a company with the expectation that you get involved if you were able to help. The second company ended up taking dozens of accounts from the first in a matter of months.

I was reprimanded on three different occasions for getting involved in violent situations to protect someone. I told them I was just observing first hand.

According to the news report last night, the guards did call the police.  And the company has a new policy that allows the guards to get involved if they can help.
