I haven't applied henna, but I do plan to get a kit someday. They sell them in every crafts store. Basically the henna mix is made up and it is applied gently with a kind of paintbrush, covering the area generously. The person tattooed then waits for the mix to dry and flake off, which can be annoying to do. It leaves a nice golden brown tattoo that can last for a couple weeks. The process is relatively simple, so long as you aren't trying to learn the intricate patterns of Hindu henna tattoos. I had one on my hands. The best thing to do is to practice painting on paper first, but at least with these tattoos, mistakes aren't permanent.
