I watched some of the Olympics and watched portions of the men's short program. Can you really see any objective, visable differences in the routines in order to rank them? I know I can't and don't. For instance I did not like the top rated routine by the Russian, but I liked the #5 routine by the American.

Seems like the grading is on subjective nuances. Also, after watching about 3-5 routines, I begin to feel that I'm in the middle of Groundhog day.

What are your views?

I don't get it, myself. I sometimes watch the women, because they can be so graceful and dynamic, but I don't understand what I'm looking at. Nor, for that matter, do i need to. It's beautiful to watch, and that's about as far as I think it through. I have no clue how they "score" those programs, and i wouldn't know a triple axle if it marched up and punched me on the beak.

Should be a contact sport, all on the ice at once.

Weak points on the ice, compulsory flaming hoops, hurdles, starving Polar bears.

I'd watch that.

Bolero now puts me to sleep.
