ORIGINAL: dinaflower how often do you find yourself taking the time to reas someoens profile, and type out a long message to them, but then they just flat out don't respond? Personally, VERY rarely. But then again, I'm not looking, when I message someone I make bloody well sure I have something 1) funny, or 2) meaningful, or 3) complimentary, or 4) a combination of any of the above, to say. And if I get a reply that's nice, but unless the person I message is someone I already have exchanged messages with (like through this forum), I expect absolute nada in return. That way, if I get a reply it's a pleasant surprise. I'm not disappointed when someone says nothing. Courtesy only goes so far these days. Personally, between spam, work, and personal contacts I can get upwards of 100 emails or more each day. Unsolicited contacts from people I don't know, especially if they read like dating site canned spam, will be dumped in the recycle bin muy pronto with no reply. Unsolicited commercials = spam. That applies to personal advertising as well as commercial sites. IF, and I do mean IF the message is _short_ to the point, polite, AND interesting, I may reply, when I have time. IF the message indicates someone has taken the time to read my profile, that bumps it up a notch on the "to be replied to" pile. And so it goes... YIK, - Geoff
