HI,
I dont really know if its that they are arrogant or just to busy multitasking. I think a lot is distance factors plus seems people have grown more cautious over the years on the net. I liked the old days when you had to know how to use a computer to USE a computer hehe. Some of us are friendly and just like to chat though.

I am going to be as diplomatic as I can---people in real life hardly remember the rules of decorum, let alone the internet that allows and even encourages rude behavior---because you heve chosen to put a profile here, its like dropping fliers from the blimp, all kinds of people see it and feel under the cloak of secrecy can be assholes--what you need to do that is toughen up and move on--now My greater concern is the fact that you have had so many Masters in such a short period of time, so My words to you are words from great wisdom, slow down, sit back and take some time to watch, look and listen.

May you seek what you find---BUT safely.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, there was a big commotion outside, drunk people walking up the street. It sounded like they were doing vandalism so Master and I went outside to be good neighbourhood watch people. Anyways, we get outside and there are three teenagers running away and another one, a girl, came walking past sobbing. She was oblivious to our presence and started screaming towards the others running away, shouting things like " I'm not ugly, I'm not fat..why do you have to be so mean to me"..she was distraught, partly due to the alcohol I presume, but the fact remains, some people were cruel to her and this had upset her immensely. Master sent me in to call the police, as I did that the girl got so upset she put her fist through a plate glass window of a store next door cutting her wrist very badly. By the time I got outside the police were there and she was terrified, basically comprehending what she had done and knowing what was going to happen.

I told this story for a couple of reasons.

1. People can be mean
2. If we react to them we just put ourselves in a frame of mind that wont benefit us.
3. If people can be so thoughtless to do that to someone face to face imagine how easy it is for mean spirited people to say that kinda stuff over the internet to someone.
4. Not all people are mean.

Take care

how often do you find yourself taking the time to reas someoens profile, and type out a long message to them, but then they just flat out don't respond?

That's not arrogant.  That's "selective."

The next word is "repetitious."  That's a post on Collarme about people not responding to email.

im just saying, they should at least take the time to hit that little button that says "no thanks" or whatever to let the other person know[X(]

Not saying anything IS letting you know.

I feel no obligation to answer an email from a random person online.

Ya know, expecting a response is arrogant so I guess the title of the notestream is accurate.

Personally, VERY rarely.  But then again, I'm not looking, when I message someone I make bloody well sure I have something 1) funny, or 2) meaningful, or 3) complimentary, or 4) a combination of any of the above, to say.  And if I get a reply that's nice, but unless the person I message is someone I already have exchanged messages with (like through this forum), I expect absolute nada in return.  That way, if I get a reply it's a pleasant surprise.  I'm not disappointed when someone says nothing.

Courtesy only goes so far these days.  Personally, between spam, work, and personal contacts I can get upwards of 100 emails or more each day.  Unsolicited contacts from people I don't know, especially if they read like dating site canned spam, will be dumped in the recycle bin muy pronto with no reply.  Unsolicited commercials = spam.  That applies to personal advertising as well as commercial sites.

IF, and I do mean IF the message is _short_ to the point, polite, AND interesting, I may reply, when I have time.  IF the message indicates someone has taken the time to read my profile, that bumps it up a notch on the "to be replied to" pile.

And so it goes...

YIK,
- Geoff

Arrogance, you can find that anywhere. Perhaps moreso on the internet due to it's state of anonimity (hmmm did I spell that right? lol) Point being that some people just seem to have that inherent in themselves and many others sometimes just don't know how to react so we feel they are being arrogant. I choose to ignore those I know that are and many others I give them the benefit of the doubt until I know better. Heck you could have just had a bad week and didn't want to respond to anyone. Happens to us all at times which is not an excuse just reality!

I am way too arrogant even to respond to this.

mnottertail -> RE: Do You find that people on here seem arrogant? (3/28/2006 7:05:09 PM)

I aspire to arrogance, but can't seem to give a fuck.

It comes to the same thing in the end.

People who play on playgrounds should not be fragile........You should have learned that on......

Well; the playground...

Seriously,
Ron
