Never heard of it myself (I've never gone, but know a bunch of guys that have.)

That's a first I've heard about being required to give a thumbprint for a cash advance on a credit card. Mind you I'm not a club going type person and I believe if I did go to a club like that and their ATM wasn't working, I'd leave and go to another place instead, but would go to a bank's ATM on the way.

I've never heard of fingerprints but I know more than a few clubs that make a copy of the card and your ID before they accept it.  The same reason a lot of porn sites require the higher forms of verification to accept a card.  When the person's spouse finds the charge and they then start claiming someone must have used my card and try and get the charges reversed.

One bank I go to occasionally takes a fingerprint of everyone cashing a check.  Can't see that it's that much different for getting a cash advance on a credit card.

Being an ex banker, I know the thumbprint on checks has been around for many years. Customers of the bank did not have to do this. It was for people that had a check drawn on the bank but didn't actually have their account with us.

I was never convinced of the reliability of the thumb print as far as recourse goes.
