Uh-oh!

Looks like the new conservative poster boy has a mind of his own.

Any bets on how long it will take before Republicans stop celebrating his victory as the beginning of a new conservative momentum and start calling him a RINO?

New senator helps Dems advance jobs bill past filibuster

WASHINGTON – A bipartisan jobs bill cleared a GOP filibuster on Monday with critical momentum provided by the Senate's newest Republican, Scott Brown of Massachusetts.

The 62-30 tally to advance the measure to a final vote on Wednesday gives both President Barack Obama and Capitol Hill Democrats a much-needed victory — even though the measure in question is likely to have only a modest boost on hiring.

Brown and four other Republicans broke with GOP leaders to advance the measure.

Most other Republicans voted in favor of the filibuster because of strong-arm tactics by Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada. The bill is likely to enjoy far broader GOP support on Wednesday when it's put to an up-or-down vote.

................"I came to Washington to be an independent voice, to put politics aside and to do everything in my power to help create jobs for Massachusetts families," said Brown, whose election last month gave Republicans the 41st vote that could sustain GOP filibusters. "This Senate jobs bill is not perfect ... but I voted for it because it contains measures that will help put people back to work."

It's a cunning stunt on Scott Brown's part to further sink the Dems, you naive libs.

This is just a rearranged version of the bipartisan bill that Reid opposed a week or 2 ago.

What you don't mention the couple of Dems that voted Nay?

Finally, I can't wait to see how well that $250 check to social security recipients does for creating jobs... not that it won't help out the people that get em, but to what end.

Oh there you are, RML.  I was wondering if you'd had a heart attack or something.  Tell me, have you found that amazing story of Obama challenging the corruption he encountered when he got started in Chicago politics?  You seemed so eager to engage in the discussion, before you poofed from the other thread.

No, this is a very different bill.  It does not include ridiculous tax cuts for the wealthy.

He didn't mention it because it never happened, nobody voted nay.

If people spend the money it will create jobs because it increases demand for goods and services.

I think if they start calling him a RINO it would be a mistake and he will end up joining the Democratic Party like Arlen Specter.

Why, Ebo.  Are you stalking my posts?  Isn't that cute.  Is your manhood threatened by finding cmail from a guy?  (hint;  any you are getting from "women" probably is anyway) My intent was to spare you a little embarassment over talking out your ass, but if you prefer public humiliation, I'm more than happy to accomodate.

Have you done your assigned homework?

It's ok if you want to stalk me, guys from here have before. I guess I'm attractive to both sexes.

Just know I don't swing that way, so keep your love mail to a minimum.

Homework is for boys- hence your obsession with it.

Well thanx to the great capitalist ruse of globalization, i.e., looking for slave labor...it will stimulate their masters.

Much more importantly, because demand is always alive and well, is that the cash means what almost all people fail to realize...the ability (money) to fulfill that demand. For hard goods, it will stimulate Chinese slavers.

Did you post the examples of corruption that you claimed?

You offered a comparison of Obama's corruption to Palin's lack of corruption, even though that wasn't what the thread was about.

You brought up the corruption angle, it is up to you to put up or shut up, not up to me to prove your unsubstantiated ramblings incorrect.

You give me specific examples of corruption that Obama was investigated for and I will address those and also provide you specific examples of corruption that Palin was investigated for and you can address those.

Since you seem unclear on what was said, I'm perfectly happy to repost it for you, RML:

So nice of you to ask.  Please note that I spoke of the record when it "comes to" corruption.  What happened when they came face to face with the corruption that transcends all politics in our government?

Here we have a nice little article, telling the story of President Obama's encounter that got him a nice big yard for the house.

Then there was Sarah Palin, and what happened when she met the encountered the crooks

The President has called his choice "boneheaded," so denial won't get you far.  But please, by all means, go ahead with the litany of travel violations you think are much, much, more serious.  Do everything you can to make this all about which is worse, because the last thing you want to do is even acknowledge that President Obama has nothing to compare with, when we talk about a record of fighting corruption.

From your Obama link:

There have been no allegations that Obama, whose political fortunes are soaring as he mulls a run for president, broke the law or committed any ethics violations.

But, what's most interesting here is you trying to make your case based on old news.

Your Obama article was from 2006 and the Palin link from 2007.

So let's get to the bottom line.

You can no more claim Obama is corrupt by having real estate dealings with someone who later got into legal trouble than I can claim Palin was treasonous because her husband belonged to an Alaskan secessionist movement.

The bottom line is Obama has never been officially accused, investigated, sanctioned or charged for any type of illegal or unethical bahavior.

Do you really want me detailing Saint Sarah of the North's record regarding those things?  Encountering the crooks?  She was one of the crooks.

Do you even read these articles you put up? How about the underlying bills?

There were 5 Repubs that voted yes on the bill, with there only being 62 Yay votes what does that tell ya? Somebody on the Dem side went off the reservation. Sen. Nelson being one NAY vote.

There are no tax cuts for the wealthy or businesses huh? It contains the same tax credits as the bill that Reid opposed just a week or so ago. It is so similar that even your own news article includes the same quote from the article throwing that bill under the bus.

The real change in this bill is that they stripped out some credits and exemptions that apply to research and development.

Finally, just like the last bipartisan proposal, this bill will do little to nothing for creating jobs. It is smaller than what is left to be spent in the stimulus bill of last year, so which one do you think will do more for the economy?

Let the dog and pony shows continue.

Exactly.  News stories of the time, far enough from the events to tell the whole story, but old enough to come without the filters which were applied later to coverage of both individuals (he as the "Messiah," she as the "one who must be despised.")

That President Obama was smart enough to wear a rubber doesn't change who he chose to hop into bed with.

So, let's take a closer look here.

Obama had real estate dealings with Rezko, long before Rezko had even been accused of anything, much less indicted.

Was Obama supposed to have clairvoyant powers?  Should he have hired private detectives to investigate a man he had no reason to suspect of any impropriety?

And let's be clear, what Rezko was in legal trouble for had absolutely nothing to do with his real estate deals with Obama.

Now let's look at Palin and the allegations of a quid pro quo arrangement in her awarding of contracts to build the Wasilla sports complex in exchange for having a new house built for her family:

I didn't mention them because that was not my intended point.

I actually had several reasons for posting this, but the primary one was that I knew those conservatives who were crowing about his election changing the face of the current political situation and applauding his victory would turn on him in a heartbeat if he stepped out of line.

It didn't take long:

GOP's Brown branded turncoat for jobs bill vote

By GLEN JOHNSON, AP Political Writer Glen Johnson, Ap Political Writer – Tue Feb 23, 9:24 pm ET

BOSTON – A month after being crowned the darling of national conservatives, Republican Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts is being branded "Benedict Brown" for siding with Democrats in favor of a jobs bill endorsed by the Obama administration.

Like the four other GOP senators who joined him, the man who won the late Democrat Edward Kennedy's seat says it's about jobs, not party politics. And that may be good politics, too.

The four other GOP senators who broke ranks — Olympia Snowe and Susan CollinsMaine, George Voinovich of Ohio and Christopher "Kit" Bond of Missouri also were criticized on Tuesday.

But Brown was the big target on conservative Web sites, talk shows and even the Facebook page his campaign has promoted as an example of his new-media savvy.

"We campaigned for you. We donated to your campaign. And you turned on us like every other RINO," said one writer, using the initials for "Republican-In-Name-Only."
