They just follow the fashion . It seems they discover it everywhere.
Not sure if it was in the Netherlands or Belgium..where the same happened the last week.

Gladly the pope seems to act very agressive towards these cases. That was different with the other popes.

Well, I suppose that the don't tell or you go to hell and hide all the evidence policy could be seen as "aggressive" but only in it's protection of pedophiles.

I'm always amazed that Catholicism seems especially prone toward pedophilia, as if something in the very structure of the religion implies these acts, dismissing the obvious but insufficient explanation of the overall-sex-prohibition.

I've thought about this quite a bit. I was raised Catholic, even went to a Catholic school. It is my opinion that the priesthood not only attracts those who feel a calling to serve God, but also attracts those who have unacceptable (to their families or society) sexual desires/leanings/wiring/whatever. I had a friend seriously consider the clergy. I grew up with him. He is homosexual, and although I didn't know what homosexual was at the time, looking back, he was always obviously homosexual. His family was very devout and he loved them. He didn't want to hurt them or shame them. As a priest, he thought he could just forgo the whole sex thing completely and never have to date or marry a woman. I saw him a couple of years ago. He dropped out of seminary and never became a priest. He said it was rough for a while when he came out, but his parents were more disappointed that he didn't become a priest than they were about him being homosexual.

I think going into (what was once) a very respected and admired field of work (a calling, even) where you will never have sex may seem easier than being who you are if you think that will hurt those you love, or that you wont be accepted by society, or that you may hurt children.

Edited to add: I realize homosexuality and pedophilia are not similar or related at all and am not implying they are.
