Because of the general disparity between male and female upper body strength and the all too common problem of domestic violence.


And perhaps as an extension of these questions, is misandry present in BDSM as a whole? 

Not in my experience.

Have (straight) female dominants ever felt that they are actively adding to the popular mentality of misandry by performing acts that may be perceived as dehumanizing or demonizing men? 

Not in my experience.

I just don’t see misandry as out of balance in the media or world. I see plenty of misogyny and chauvinism in the media with plenty of T-shirts to back it up. Admittedly films like Salo: 120 Days of Sodom are supposed to create ill feelings towards the dominant protagonists in the story. But it was a symbolic political statement in the guise of a major motion picture about BDSM and you were supposed to hate those in control. Western society may be more sexually conservative. The US is one of the few nations that doesn’t have nudity on public TV. But I don't think we a gateway for misandry.

You speak of Jabba the Hutt. When I think of Jabba, I think of how he started as a spice smuggler and worked his way up to a seat of power. That seat came complete with frog serving slave wenches and sexy tentacle head bitches on chain but he wasn’t a Dominant BDSM style figure. Roots had plenty of slaves on a chain but it wasn’t about BDSM. Anyway, like the southerners in Roots, most of the Hutt species kept servants.

The saying about the pendelum is right. Look back at the old black and white movies and you see they're rampant with male leads who have very strong, somewhat dominant characters that even transfer over to the public's view of their personal lives.

I agree with LadyA..........very untrue. I hate people that are purposely obtuse and will gladly admit it. No evidence required, weak or not. I also hate narrow minded people, people that are always negative, people that blame others for their problems, people that run through life with an excuse book as to why they fail at everything.........and so on.
