In my opinion Rush Limbaugh and Bill O Reilly both have issues with black people. I really don't understand why but I think it's true. I think Mr. Limbaugh should stick to talking about important issues like the economy and the wars, not that I would agree with him. I have to say listening to Rush is funny because he sounds so serious. Rush Limbaugh Accuses President Obama of Using the “Black Dialect” In case anybody forgot, Rush Limbaugh reminded his audience that the President of the United States is in fact black. Today on his radio show, Limbaugh accused Obama of using the black dialect while addressing the National Governors Association today at the White House. Limbaugh said, “Obama can turn on that black dialect and turn it off.” Here is the audio courtesy of Media Matters: Rush’s initial statement was bad, but he added to it by calling Obama clean and articulate. Not only was Rush Limbaugh once again trying fan the flames of racism, but he is criticized Obama while he spent eight years gushing over the most inarticulate president in the modern era, George W. Bush. Limbaugh also needs to understand that saying axe instead of asks, isn’t just an African-American thing. Depending on who he's addressing, Obama can sound like a Harvard professor or a Harlem street preacher. Or something in between, or sometimes even both in the same speech. It's one of the things I don't like about him. He's a chameleon. He'll be whatever he thinks people want to see in him.

Actually, that's just a pet peeve of mine in general - people who adopt the speech patterns of whomever they happen to be around in order to ingratiate themselves to them. That's probably why it bothers me more to see it in Obama than it might bother other people.

When I'm down south visiting my relatives my speaking patterns become much more distinctly southern than usual. The same occurs with many of my black friends, They speak standard english around strangers and employers but speak dialect when at home or with friends.

Fast Reply aww da big bad president not talking like the elitist he is "sposed to be" he has as much right as anyone to have a public voice and a private voice, (or in his case, a "patois" or a "presidential".... both are in his blood, his roots and his background) good god this is just pathetic. If he started talking in arabic and praying to allah, get upset otherwise Im gonna swear at you in a broad scots accent that you wont understand

I'm a sucker for accents. Once upon a time I was a freight forwarder, and I talked to companies all over the country (international was done via teletype, which dates this experience). I'd end up talking just like the person I was hearing at the other end. It got embarrassing from time to time.
