pahunkboy -> how do I spilt a PDF? (2/24/2010 6:08:32 PM)
Do I have to buy a program for this?
I need them small enough to send into an email. I am talking about 45MB 60MB.
thanks!

I don't know if Adobe's Acrobat Reader allows you to save off a group of pages into separate files. It used to but that was about ten years ago. It's a free download from Adobe if you're willing to give it a try.
It won't take the original PDF file and break it up. You'd have to go through and manually section the file off into a bunch of new, smaller PDF files.

The free Adobe Reader doesn't let you do that anymore, but the PDF specification is now an open standard and there is free software available to split PDF files. On a Mac, the built-in Preview application can handle splitting and other manipulations. For other platforms, a quick search will turn up a number of options. I don't have any personal experience with them, but here are a few you could try:

Plan B is to use one of those file sites.

Better than splitting them is reducing the file size--Acrobat Pro can do this for you.
Or if it's something you saved as a PDF, choose "reduce file size" when using "save as PDF."

Or, failing that, you can print them, and scan in just the pages you want, saving them as new pdfs. I use Acrobat 7 at work, and it allows you to detach or add new pages; but Reader doesn't.
