I miss caitlyn.

Me too. She hated me. It was so stimulating.

That is why she was so lovable...She hated you long before hating you became cool.

She was way ahead of her time.

Plus she was banging some dude that liked to go to strip bars....She was sooo Texas. You could feel the desperation, sweat and po' white trash in each and every post that she made.

I wonder if mons is still alive? She reached CM rare air.

'Tis better to be vile than vile esteemed,
When not to be receives reproach of being,
And the just pleasure lost, which is so deemed
Not by our feeling, but by others' seeing.
For why should others' false adulterate eyes
Give salutation to my sportive blood.'

Caitlyn was a bit of a skank, but I'm sure she was a good sort once you washed her out a little bit.

No, that's the not the difference identified in this thread. The difference here is one of mindset, not specific policies or agendas.

If she did kick you in the balls, it was always with a smiley face attached. [;)]

Don't you know that you're supposed to do all that dirty stuff, like being gay and getting abortions, in secret? And if discovered, you're supposed to deny everything. Either that or get on national television and beg for forgiveness. That makes everything ok, including pedophilia.

Right -- the Don Draper method. All buttoned down on the outside (to fit in and judge others) and wild and crazy at lunch (hotel bedrooms) or in California (hanging with a new age commune), or when visiting with your child's school teacher (in her bedroom.)

The conservatism is more about how they want things to be (bright line, moral, clear, wholesome) but they often like and make exemptions for themselves (Dick Cheney's daughter) or Karl Rove getting a no-fault, fast track divorce in TX after bloviating about the sanctity of marriage.

Most of the conservatives that I know and respect pull their own weight and expect others to do the same (code of self reliance.) This group is the most centrist and its less wrapped up in family values and fringe issues. Still, not folks who treasure nuance, ambiguity, and or shades of gray. But a group who also are not war mongers and who lean towards pragmatism.

No hijack - only scientific method; applying the theory to practical observable results. No combat, but as it says at the bottom of every one of my posts - simply "pointing out the obvious".

The theorem proposed was directed to the "fundamental difference between liberals and conservatives is in our mindsets". The OP sited Jack Germond's article as a supporting document. I directly quoted from it; "liberals by definition seem less positive about the rightness of their positions. Their ethic includes tolerance of other views, something that does not burden the Limbaughs or Santorums of the world." Logically, since those still praying to the global warming gods are defined by the Germond article, they MUST be conservative - Right?

Sure they change the name, now its 'climate change'. Well hell - no shit, the climate changes!? I love how their gods, including the messiah, Al Gore are now maintaining a low profile. All the formerly held in high esteem expert opinions now discounted when they disclose they held back information or out and out lied about their results. Yet the religious belief goes on. Under the postulation presented no right minded 'liberal' could possibly hold on to such "righteousness" in the face of contradicting facts. Ergo - the global warming religion, whoops - I mean climate change religion - MUST be populated by conservatives. QED.

Were I to stereotype 'liberals' from those posters self assigning themselves that label, I say they have an fear of mirrors. Anytime you hold up one and point out their reflection they run away.

You can establish another theorem from that observation: All liberals are vampires.

Merc, didn't you know that attending The Harvard School of Divinity makes you an "expert" on "global warming" or is it "climate change" or whatever they're calling it these days?
And if you make $100M, have a 100 foot yacht and a house that uses more energy than 12 "normal" houses and regularly fly on private jets the suck,.....er, the faithfull won't notice.

InvisibleBlack -> RE: Different Mindsets: Conservatives v. Liberals (2/26/2010 4:01:27 PM)

While I happen to like Jack Germond, you have to bear in mind that he was the liberal counterpoint to Pat Buchanan on the McLaughlin group for fifteen years - so I would hardly take him as an unbiased arbiter of the differences between liberals and conservatives. Throughout my life I have yet to see a lack of intolerance, narrow-mindedness and general assholity (assholery?) from either group.

Honestly, you wouldn't know QED if it punched you in the face.

Like clockwork five times a day you prostrate yourself before the 'Global warming is a religion' God . There's rarely so clearly a 'reflective dilemma' than with your daily meandering sermons.

Shoo fly!
