He (a white cat) would sit at the foot of a four-foot tall birdfeeder and whack the blue jays as they swooped in. Sometimes he would sit on the feeder, waiting for them. Mom gave birth to her litter a month before my wife gave birth to our son. Hook is one of the puppies from that litter. In a very real sense we're a multi-species 'family'. [:)]
