Would love sub/slave opinion on something.

Can you tell me if this is out of line or a difficult request. I have been a Dom for many years. I have been in and out of the lifestyle have just recently returned much to my relief. I went vanilla for quite awhile but found that life lacking. Anyway, I came to this site seeking a partner long term. If i were to contact you and we began chatting would you find it an unreasonable request to either send a postcard or letter to me from your locale (Postmarked postcard or letter ) to me at my home address to verify location. That you actually LIVE in the US and not some temp assignment in Ghianna or Nigeria [:D]

I feel that this would be a good way to weed out Scammers or fakes.

Am i offbase here?

Not a sub...
....but if you are both serious about longterm..why not.
I like the idea..and why would someone mind if he/she is serious.
( asking it afther 1 message would be a bit to much though)

I don't think it's out of line.

I think the timing of such a request would make a difference.

AquaticSub -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 3:37:09 AM)

In principle, no it's it not an out of line request. However, it would depend on when you were asking me to do it. For me, if I was talking to a dominant, I would probably balk a bit because I don't think I can prove who I am. I could live in the town I was claiming and still be completely lying to you about everything else - including my gender.

I would probably respond to such a request better if I was being asked to send them something from the area that is important to me. Say... a dominant expressed "Wow, it sounds like you really love feeding the ducks. Would you grab a leaf/flower off the ground the next time you go and send it to me in a letter? I want to feel like I've got a little piece of this thing you enjoy so much." You'd get a bit of her, she'd be thinking of you while she is doing something she enjoys and you get the postmark. Of course, it's probably better if you actually mean it and aren't just using it to get the postmark. [;)]

While I wouldn't mind such a task, honestly, you can tell the scammers really easily. If they want you to send them money, or visit their yahoo site, or some web page, or dial a 900 number, it's a scam

What's more difficult to weed out with online-only communication is whether the "slave girl" you are chatting with via IM is actually female, or some guy wanking off to what you write. Or if it is a woman, that her looks really match the photo.

You can get around the problem of men pretending to be women by using Skype or the telephone. Knowing what the woman actually looks like probably requires webcam.

pahunkboy -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 8:08:31 AM)

bad idea.

xxblushesxx -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 12:08:41 PM)

Also, there are services that will send mail for you from any locale. I think, just take your time and get to know people. You can generally get a feel for the real vs. the fakes.

came4U -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 12:17:43 PM)

It wouldn't bother me (in time), I've mailed (via snailmail) with a few net users.

but frankly, within a few days, weeks, months? no

if I lived an apartment, maybe, but I have a home. Any freak could sit outside on the street or come to my door.

I agree with others, at learning for yourself, as I do. If something 'feels' creepy about them, just cut it off. simple. Use your instincts. Besides, if someone doesn't trust me at my word to begin with, their loss anyhoo.

slvcoffee -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 1:20:55 PM)

submissive female here. i think it's a great idea. As long as you are comfortable giving out your address, it isn't asking too much of a legitimate submissive to mail you and verify she is in the location she claims.

just my humble opinion.

Madame4a -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 1:23:04 PM)

I don't think its a bad thing, but I don't necessarily think it will weed out scammers.

Have you thought about getting out into your local community to meet folks face to face?  At least you'll know where they live... its a good start on finding someone real without wasting some time.

Whoops.. just reread and realized you were only looking for a certain set of responses.

Ignore at will

jen182 -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 1:41:45 PM)

seems logical to me, i dont see how it would be out of line

divi -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 1:43:22 PM)

I think its a lil freaky ...

fluffypet61 -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 2:46:39 PM)

i'm not interested in anyone ...
who feels they need to "verify" anything about me by any means.

i have never been that desperate for friends.

Besides, long term relationships come from friendships.

This. Plus, I'd be concerned about getting involved with someone who had so little faith in their own intuition.

DesFIP -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 5:27:31 PM)

Way out of line. Easier to talk to someone within reasonable driving distance and arrange to meet for coffee.

Or go to your local munch and meet people there.

Someone who made that request is in fact saying "I believe you are a liar. I distrust everyone". And if your distrust is that big, it will impact the relationship in other ways.

stella41b -> RE: Would like an Opinion (2/28/2010 7:34:40 PM)

Yeah right, so having an address in the States 'verifies' you in some way?

Even if I was in the States, having to be 'verified' or pass some sort of a test just to prove who I am to someone unknown to me who's making it clear he's going to put his own interests first would just make me call it quits there and then.

You know, even when there wasn't the Internet some people still told porkies and tried to scam others, and nobody verified other people then.

I think it's because people retained control of their own minds and employed something known as common sense.
