So ..... does this class come with a money back guarantee?

I bet it says that it does, but  if someone fails to succeed any half decent trainer will convince them that its their fault.. ;-)

Not exactly, but anyone who isn't satisfied with the results gets a discount voucher for one of them Texas slave farms...

and if the newbie isn't happy with said class, can s/he get their pristine newness back?

Sure they can-all they need to do is talk to Bob.

Oh Michael's post is spot on. I take exactly what he described and apply it to the business field, especially with consultants and such. Don't get me wrong, I was a consultant for a while and I have a great deal of respect for those who do it well. But there are charlatans everywhere and the more of a weasel they are in wanting to get close to what makes them seem powerful, the more unfounded their knowledge, skills and abilities are.

The more secure someone is in what it is that they do, the more humble they will be. That doesn't mean that they don't know how to market themselves. It just means that they will be subtle and strong about it, rather than in your face and/or sneaky.

Is there a reverse corallary to this? Like, if I pretend to be a newbie, will everybody think I'm young and hot and be willing to pay me??[;)]

VaguelyCurious -> RE: Preying on Newbies ~My Newest Class (3/2/2010 4:29:33 PM)

Nononono, hang about-this thread is funny. It has made me laugh. I shouldn't have jinxed it by mentioning the B-man, and I apologise for that, but [sm=dontfeedtrolls.gif]

Not everything is about Bob. Sometimes we just want to talk about evilly taking advantage of newbies.

And SimplyMichael, you forgot to mention the highly effective technique of cornering the newbie and telling them scare-stories about innapropriate things that your rivals have done-the newbie will never actually have the guts to tell the rival, so the stories don't even have to be true!

That way you can convince them that you are the only trustworthy top in the whole place...

I'm just kinda pissed that I wasn't preyed on as a newbie.  I want a do-over.

And to continue the somber/serious part of this..... Back in the late 70s - early 80s, there were gay Leather bars.  THAT is where you went to find out about WIITWD.  Most of them had notorious reputations, specifically designed to keep out the wannabes.  Took guts to cross the threshold, let me tell you.  Reputations and recommendations were avaiable for the asking.

Such a "class" simply was inconceivable.

That all said, GREAT post, full of great advice for these times, this technology, this way of "meeting" people.

I can't sspeak for the 70s and 80's but I thought I knew what edgy BDSM was, until I attended an after party for the Lords of Leather Mardi Gras Ball, at a gay bar in New Orlans.  Boy oh boy.....Phew!  I nearly suffered whiplash from trying to see it all at once and not miss anything.
