Exactly MM,it was Christmas morning for the Gun Industry when Obama took the election....and they played it well ,whipping up fear and distrust into a frenzy of shopping.....and the enthusiasts ate it up like momma's pudding.

Thankfully.

The American firearms industry was robust in the 1960s. It's not now and it hasn't been for quite some time. I know there are people here with more day-to-day experience in the firearms market than I have these days. How are the U.S. guns selling as opposed to foreign ones?

I'm doing too many things at once and not being clear. Sorry about that.

The overall point is that this is a saturated market. It's not under attack--that's an NRA manufactured position.

I do agree with you there - the NRA (and Wayne LaPierre) have totally hyped up Obama as this crazed gun-confiscator. I haven't seen any hint of that. Americans are buying firearms more now than they have in years.

After that eminent domain decision a couple years back, I'm not even guessing how the court might rule on this.

Thats an easy one. 5-4 to overturn the Illinois law.

States or municipalities shouldn't be restricting rights.
Restricting First Amendment rights or Freedom of the Press wouldn't be tolerated for one minute! I don't understand why people have tolerated this nonsense for so long.

The difference is that firearms are potentially a threat to other citizens.

When free speech or freedom of the press poses a threat to other citizens, it is also restricted.

No reason firearms should be exempt from this reasonable approach.

this is fucking rich!

free speech posing a threat

yeh free speech pulls the trigger, stabs with a knife or kicks in the face or burns the building down.

Pro gun laws are on the march....all the while proponets of pro gun rights scream warnings about dire consequences of the last Presidential election. Can't these folks see the same writing on the wall as the rest of us....and if so,why the false panic?

you mean that 911 was a false flag?  sure we saw the writing on the wall.

The point IB was that gun control laws are under attack, and losing....while the pro-gun lobby continues to whip up this false hysteria that President Obama is coming to take your guns...its pure bullshit .Please tell me the last court decision which infringed in any way the rights of gun enthusiasts?

ALL legislation infringes on the right to bear arms.

typical slave mindset

you need to be controlled

Well, I gotta believe that they have always ruled that enumerated rights in the constitution are 'fundamental' and will rule that the Federal law is the right to keep and bear arms, and that states may restrict that right, but not ban or abolish it.

That's my take anyhow.

Ron

'always' not actually meaning since time immemorial and forever, after all, they upheld slavery for some time. But generally....

its no wonder the country is in such sorry fucking shape.

enumerated rights.

rights ARE NOT fucking enumerated, the authority we grant to government is enumerated.

the peoples rights are infinite as long as they do not infringe on another rights.

I can declare any fucking right I want and I do not need permission nor can the state abrogate that which I declare as my right.

at least now we know who you were talking about when you referred to the shithouse lawyer.

fucking shithouse alright

and the brighter side of the constitution is that since the fed and state constitution did not ban bullets if the wise guys try and short us of ammo we have the ability to claim as our right the ability to get ammo and if they stomp on it we have a suit of trespass with injury.

Yup.

It's why we have libel laws.

Not to mention classified information.

Both "infringe" upon free speech, because of the potential harm they present.
