Oh here we go again, another thread started complaining about the quality of some content on the site and seeking to exclude certain people because of it. Please tell me someone how different this is from the numerous threads started on scammers and fake profiles?
But you know, switching on a computer, starting a browser, opening this site, logging on, coming onto the boards, browsing the threads and even reading the postings all involve free will. As far as I'm aware nobody is required to be here, we come here of our own free will.
Therefore just in the same way nobody is forcing anyone to read any of the threads or postings, which are started employing the basic principle of this site and the community as a whole which is that of freedom of personal self-expression.
Okay, so some people aren't on the same level of awareness as others, some people have problems using writing as a form of communication, some people are experiencing circumstances and life circumstances which affect them emotionally or mentally, some even are suffering from emotional issues and mental illness but you know I don't see how any of these issues makes what someone thinks and feels any less valid or gives them any less right to come here and get whatever enjoyment they get from the boards.
We all signed up to the same TOS and conditions and for me we all have equal right to be here for whatever reason that suits us, as long as of course it lies within the TOS of the site.
Let us not forget that there are those here who for whatever reason do not have the same level of acceptance and understanding in wider society as others and this is one of the few spaces which are accepting and understanding and where they are free to express themselves however which way they wish. If some of these 'less acceptable' or marginalized people are further excluded, where do you expect them to go?
Another thing is, if some posts and threads are not intelligent enough for the OP, precisely what intelligence are we talking about here? Are we talking about intellectuality? Emotional intelligence? Wisdom gained from life experience?
It's not that I don't understand or accept what the OP is saying, I see the same things, I've started threads which have sank like the Titanic, I have come onto the boards and gone through various sections and not found anything I could post to.
But rather than expect everyone else to conform to what I feel the boards should be like I simply log off, go for a walk, meet with friends, go take some photos, do something else away from the computer and try again later on.
I like the idea of freedom of personal expression and I appreciate those in the past who have struggled and fought so that we have that freedom, and it's that freedom that I for one wouldn't want to ever take for granted or see taken away.
