well if you start a war, you generally have to pay for it.

so now we are getting somewhere.   there is profits to be made.   cut those profits and we will have less war.

Well I thought it was a nice find hunky. The other posters seemed to be.... Well I'm not sure really, but my suspicions are the subtle commentary intended by their posts wasn't of a positive or supportive nature.

I suppose you could assume that, if you wanted to. Of course, you could also assume it was 2 people who actually like PA poking a little lighthearted fun at him for posting a link without any commentary, but if for some reason you prefer to interpret it in such a negative way as to allow it to be the catalyst for you leaving the board (!), I suppose there's not much to say.

And with this I think I'm done here. There is simply too much bickering and petty partisanship here for my tastes. It seems less like a place where ideas of public interest are openly discussed and more like verbal (or typewritten) boxing matches. Hmm, perhaps a new term: verbate, or verbal karate.

But on the other hand - even though you may have picked a bad example, I completely agree with your point. This whole board jumped the shark a long, long time ago as a place where one could reasonably expect to have a reasonable discussion about... well, just about any issue. It's a place to go and shout, not a place to go and talk. A place to exchange insults, not a place to exchange ideas and information. A place to call each other names, not ask each other questions. Yeah. a good discussion still manages to break out every now and then, but it usually doesn't last more than a page or so before it becomes a schizoid holocaust denial 9/11 conspiracy rant.

So, good luck with wherever you wind up. There are definitely better boards out there. I've found a couple, and i hope you do too. Take care, and best wishes going forward.
