You're aware that self appointed armed militias were the main enforcers of the new world order in Russian for the first five or six years following their revolution? Clearly militias are an evil socialist thing, and it's strange how much of the lunatic right thinks they're a good idea.

From what I can see, the overwhelming majority of these militias are pretty harmless. Most seem to be just guys dressing up in camo and playing warrior for a weekend. Overwhelmingly they seem more talk and bluster than action.

I say this because they don't seem to have any purpose for existance, other than to resist a threat that doesn't yet exist.

Like the Oathkeepers, solemnly vowing to resist an illegal order.....that has not been given, and that no one is contemplating. But they gather and promise to get all tough " ifn' Obama ever orders Granma into that FEMA camp."

Maybe they are planning to light their underwear on fire or something, I don't know.

"Guy who founded the group" is a well-known right wing whack job.  He has a long history of involvement with militia movements.

What's interesting though is their bi-partisan claims, even though they were just founded last march and many of their "oaths" have a direct correlation with other nutcase anti-Obama propaganda like FEMA concentration camps, seizing guns, and the New World Order.

Some Tea Partiers hate Obama, sure. Some of them hate Bush,too -  but thats neither here nor there. What the Tea Partiers really hate are these incrediblly irresponsible deficits that are robbing the future from America's future generations. They hate the way the Constitution is being degraded, and the way states rights are ignored.

Those are their issues, they don't get into social issues because its especially the deficits that matter right now. Thats why they're drawing in people from all walks of life. its something that most reasonable people can agree on.

Why would they form before now? The deficits have never been this bad before. Even Hillary Clinton claims the deficit is so bad that its a security issue.

OK, since this turned into a Tea Party thread, instead of a Rightwing Terrorist thread -

Actually- and this may shock some- I don't necessarily disagree with the Tea Party in all issues.

My disagreement with the Tea Party is that it has as its main signature a sprawling, unfocused anger and bitterness; all those Obama/ Joker signs, the threats of violence, the bitter calls for revolution- these things aren't just tolerated within the Tea Party, they are actively encouraged. Those red-faced boors shouting at last summer's townhalls were not a few rogues, they were the core of the group.

I could have a positive and cordial argument about the deficit- the deficit, after all, is just a numbers problem to be resolved- either by raising revenue or cutting spending, or both.

But its tough to have a civil discussion when the other person is holding a poster saying that you want to kill his beloved granny.

So time for another cheap plug for my favorite new group, the CoffeeParty which is dedicated to fostering a return to civil dialogue, and consensus agreement among Americans.

I think you have every right to be antiabortion, I understand completely. I used to be antiabortion but where I differ is I don't believe I have the right to impose my views on other people. I believe a woman has a right to do what she wants to her own body and I believe if men were having babies nobody would be telling them if they can have an abortion because men would not put up with it.
And apart from the abortion issue this jackass has a lot of nerve, especially if he is supposedly pro-life to deny people or to block people from getting the health care they desperately need.  People need health care reform and he has a lot of bloody nerve blocking it. There are up to 50 million Americans without health care, a huge disgrace when compared to the rest of the world or other industrialized countries.  

I am of the opinion that the Democratic Party doesn't need people like this guy. I don't like him being subsidized to live in that house and not reporting the income benefit to the IRS. I think when voters in Michigan to find out more about this guy and his secretive behavior he isn't going to last too long. I won't be surprised if he is removed as the Democratic candidate. And even if he wins the Democratic nomination for his area I wouldn't expect him to be reelected.
