Why because you are dominating me to? Hey, he just did a dominate.

Musicmystery -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:49:14 PM)

It's "too," not "to."

[:D]

Musicmystery -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:50:27 PM)

Anyway, I'm more of a Mixolydian. Or maybe a bit Dorian.

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:51:50 PM)

nope, it isn't 'too'

that would mean you gave me other orders or another did.

it is, to -- the prepration/assumption for the verb of 'dominate'

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:54:48 PM)

Is there going to be a quiz on this later?

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:56:47 PM)

quiz, an adjective, verb or noun.

lol, this subject has been done 5 mil times. There isn't any real straight answer to it.

Your position is that you split an infinitive to stick the preposition at the end of your sentence?

c : a dominant individual in a social hierarchy

So is a swicth somebody in the middle tier of a heiracrchy? :-)

If that's the cause I range from pretty switchy to Domimant, depending upon which social hierachy is involved. Then again, I'm prone to topping from the bottom.. LOL.. eeeww eehhhhh...

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 8:59:54 PM)

Why I oughta....*shakes fist.

I oughta stick something, in some end. ..then split.

now a switch on the other hand, (no pun intended), can be a noun or a verb, again.

Dominant/Dominate potential for getting laid punnett square:

D=Dominate.the act of/actually, actively getting sum
MDf=Male Dominant, prefers females
MDm=" " , prefers males
De/m=Domme.preferring males
De/f=Domme.preferring females
sf=sub, female
sm=sub, male
sa=sub alpha within poly (m or f)
sd=sub delta within poly (m or f)

MDf MdM De/m De/f

sf sm sm sf

sf/sa/sd sm,sa/sd sm,sam,sdm sf,saf,sdf

conclusion: the semantics of what you use and how you use the word isn't THAT important as long as it looks visually correct within the correlation of the sentence, entire thought and paragragh. What matters is...that someone is getting some fine bdsm going on, instead of just worrying about taking D/e ESL lessons in black n white here (or blue).

*edit: shit, what i made as a graph, came out as mere dribble LOL grr

I guess what I'm sayin' is. Ok, the arguement is as old as the hills, BUT, look at the date on the dictionary quotes (1918).

Just like many other words (recently formed/reshaped) to be then nouns are now verbs.

like:

Roast - a cooked hunk-o-meat / or the current act of cooking it
Roast - The humiliation via Dean Martin et al

Toast, same thing, except with a glass/bottle of booze in yer hand

Polly wants a cracker (polly must be a parrot)
Polly acts like such a cracker (polly must be black)

I'm seeing a lot of D majors and minors here. I know where d, f, e is on the scale.. along with the Major, Minor and suspended chord patterns. Then again D could also mean Diminished chords as well. Can you please run the Chord Patterns by me again. I got the lyrics down.. Polly wants a cracker! yeah yeah yeah...

came4U -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 9:06:58 PM)

lol sorry, it wasn't a musical score. was an invalid scientific point, because the layout didn't come out in punnett form :( blaa

*I suck. (sigh, really, too easy).

When my Daddy was IM'ing with me about collaring me, he accidentally misspelled it as "collarded".  I found this extra amusing since he is of the blacker persuasion.  So I put it in my sig line.  This amuses me even more, because I know that there are people who think I don't know that it's misspelled.  One person actually told me that I had a misspelled word in my sig line.  *snort*

One night, my beloved but typo-prone local diner had "collared" greens on the menu, and I immediately thought of you, Linea!

jujubeeMB -> RE: Dominant/Dominate (3/5/2010 10:50:13 PM)

Do people really say: "I am a Dominate"? How does that even make any sense? It's like saying "I am a Juggle."

I don't know why I'm thinking about juggling right now...

Well you know 'dominate' is a verb like 'jerk' and when someone says 'I am a jerk' to me it makes sense.

And some I guess make that logical leap.
