Hello,
describe the status of your jewelry as of now.   Multi choices are allowed.

Is nice jewels more important today then in the past? 

Does anyone notice jewels?

How do you see the trend going?


Do you find wearing such items to be restrictive?

Would you care to share any happy stories with us - that relate to any of this?




I had been watching vids on royals and their jewels- and I think some of the old stuff is downright tacky.

I tend to wear the same stuff all the time-a pendant I bought from a craft fair four or five years ago, which gets the most compliments out of all the jewellery I have ever owned in my life, silver bangle, silver nose stud.

Earrings when I remember them (rarely).

None of my stuff is showy or expensive, but people seem to like it.

I rarely wear jewelery...that habbit (to stop to wear it) started when I did sport as a teenager 3-5 evenings per week when I was aged 14-19 and quite frankly I got fed up of getting them on and off again all the time.

So most of the stuff I have is resting back home in a box and I don't miss it at all...One of the rings which do matter to me is one granny gave to me and I did wear it on her funeral...so that one will be with me on important days...otherwise not, as it is far too indecent (I prefer jewellery to be decent and not big/huge/obvious).

Whilst I could wear 3 earrings in each ear I did not do so since years and yes, I would still be able to get it through...however, it just does not bother me.

Thanks for the warning...I shall find a secret place for my jewels, considering they're mostly in silver!

meanwhile, back at the ranch...I got out of the habit of wearing jewelry due to the work I did - jewelry was dangerous to wear (harmful to me) or was dangerous to what I was working on.  I have a big stash of silver rings, a wee bit of gold, and 2 large Navajo bracelets.  Nothing fancy fer me!

Everyone notices my jewelry cause it's hard to miss. I like big, sparkly rings. I don't have a real stone amongst them, but what I have I adore. My favorite ring is this GIANT black square piece of glass set in some dark grey metal that cost me $6 at Target. I love to wear it over nice, vintage style gloves.

I no longer tend to go out to the kind of places I need to dress up for. So if there isn't a wedding or Bar Mitzvah, they live in the safe deposit box. Not to mention that I have to take the earrings out after just a few hours, anything but surgical steel causes major allergy problems here.
