I feel you completely. Being married to a vanilla myself, I get a huge rush if he suddently decides to assert himself. I just melt.

I am on a journey back to 24/7 with a new partner. Anytime for me when the M/s dynamic is reinforced I feel a little more of a load lifted, increased confidence, and the ability to breathe again. I find these feelings to be important in keeping a BDSM relationship fresh like a date night hehe Anything that takes your mind back to those first time butterflies.

Of course certain activities elicit different responses and feelings. However, the same holds true whether I'm engaged in a visible display of my slavery or simply going about my day as you've described. In my case, the two are identical because my submission isn't situational nor do I compartmentalize it in any capacity. I see my unconditional obedience as a constant act of service. Whether that involves interaction with him or preparing myself for the day ahead, both serve as a continual reminder of my station. The same highs mentioned are present all around. There are no differences because his ownership and my surrender are the overriding constants in everything I/we do.
