You want to know why I don't live in Florida ? People. It is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. While there about 15 years ago I was watching one of their talking heads on the TV news. I will not forget those words. "Florida legislature has passed a law making it a crime to.....". That was enough. If people accept that the government decides what is a crime and what is not, I do want them for neighbors. If they said that here in Cleveland I would be up in arms, almost literally. I would at the very least be all over the internet with it. You do not decide what is a crime, the act itself defines that. If it produces a victim it is a crime. If it does not it is not. I don't care who, or how opulent and powerful you may be, and even if you can mold laws into your own image using your influence, there is no way in hell your personal definition of a crime stands. It doesn't matter to me, that there was no public outcry about this, nor even much public awareness. What matters is that we are talking a major media outlet here, and they are not a bunch of kids. Every word they broadcast is tailored to that market. That tells even more than a million "Man on the street" interviews. It tells of the peoples' attitude down there, and notice I did not capitalise it that time. A Citizen would tear half the court system up in most states, and they did. This resulted in some states going to "home rule" status. Colorado is one, but I think Florida is so far gone they needn't bother. You can't quote the Constitution in court without permission in a home rule state. It's all right there in the law, albeit a flea on an elephant. Program that machine with the Constitution FIRST. The judge (requires a 486 or higher with 64MB of RAM) will automatically release any defendent who could defend on any Constitutional grounds, but then others of course have to eat the charge. The machine says "We got you dead to rights" and then the sentence is determined. Even in jury trials, to which we do have the right, there would be no selective exclusion of evidence as practiced today. I do know how to get around that, but shit, you have to cop a plea because you can't recite every word of every law on the books ? Bullshit. Most of the time if you demand that the judge read the statute under which you are charged, which is totally within your rights, the case will at the least get postponed. I know their game, and when they know that you know their game, they actually are the ones in fear, even as you sit in their jail. You HAVE to know what the fuck you are doing though. You play game with these people you have to go for a full acquittal usually, beause any reduced charges are likely to hit you with max sentences, and even winning you do not come out ahead. Machines, if programmed properly completely eliminate this travesty of justice. Don't get me wrong, I have used connections and all the "tools of the trade" to keep my ass out of the sling over the years. Details are NOT available on request, but suffice it to say that it would have never happened that way if machines actually administered the justice. In fact my first bunch of DUIs started in my early twenties, and I literally had four first offenses in this state. Concurrently actually. A bragging point ? I don't think so. I am 49 now and I wish they would've slammed my ass hard the first time, knocked some fucking sense into me. I am not kidding here in the least bit. I am kidding a bit about having us under rule of machine. It is not natural, and if said machine uses heiruistic(sp) reasoning, who can say that it will not get greedy ? But it beats what we have now. Revenue from traffic and parking tickets averages how much of a given locality's budget ? Quite a bit in some places. Their computer would of course be programmed to bring in the most money. Too many people move out causing a loss of property taxes ? Speeding fines go up ten bucks. Simple math. Property tax levy fails, write more tickets. Look up Linndale Ohio for alot of info on this game. I've played with them about a half a dozen times. Always charged, never convicted. But copped a plea and they got my money. So did my lawyer, but I had a volume discount. This whole game has to stop. Those who extract our money must be removed. There is no other way to have a true and just society. It should be illegal to levy fines. Make them do it only for the purpose of public safety rather than their bills. Speed, so many hours in jail, you lost time from work. Drive home. Driving drunk ? Drive home, after sitting in jail for at least a few months, and pay for parking. Fuck taking your right to travel away, it does not work, it didn't work with me. They took me down and hard in that respect yet I drive almost every day. They failed. Their whole system failed, if their intentions are actually as stated. T
