I just bought a baseball for a girl I am training. My idea is to play "batting practice" Where basicly she pitches and I hit. If I knock one down the field she has to go get it. If I miss she has to go pick the ball up and possibly get scolded if her throw was off. Just a good way to put in 30 minutes or so of exercise and show whos boss at the same time.

Also got her a Frisbee. We really enjoy playing Frisbee so I got that for a reward.

What happens when she realizes that you swing a bat like a girl?

You really need to think these things through before you put them into action.

Smoking is bad for your health, it simply stinks,
i know there still are people who very much like to to it, but even they do not deny it is bad for your health... and if they can still smell anything at all they might even agree that most things smell nicer than cigs.

the op's daddy rewards her by giving her a cancer stick if she is good
she calls this creative control

i call it stupid

You know what else isn't healthy? Drinking alcohol. Eating fast food. Not exercising. Getting into rebound relationships. Being a stuntman. Being in the military. Bladeplay. Most types of sex. Being a boxer. Being a U.S. football player. Chocolate. Enemas. Germophobia....

Really, it's almost cute that you took your own personal issue and tried to paint it as a health concern, but it's so desperately short-sighted it falls out of the realm of anything rational.

And, being fixated so overtly on a personal crusade over one thing that a human can do to him/herself as being unhealthy when it (doing something "unhealthy") is an inevitable and inescapable part of life...I call that "stupid".

She's certainly bought a very heavy load of propganda. I'm not sure if being vulnerable to propoganda is equal to being stupid. I've met some very smart people, people I judged to be far more intelligent than myself, who were totally propogandized about one issue or another. That makes me wonder if the two aren't different creatures. Propoganda covertly engages the emotions while superficially appealing to the mind and people who pride themselves on their rational or intellect, unless they've been rigorously trained in critical examination, often seem unusually vulnerable to the "change you thinking through the backdoor" emotional approach.

ranja -> RE: Creative control...... (3/19/2010 6:10:06 AM)

Caring, are you saying i am vulnerable and have been brainwashed into believing that smoking is bad for your health?

And to the op:
can you yourself perhaps give a better example of positive reinforcement than this (stupid) smoking example

i personally respond best if i get rewarded by a good fucking

allthatjaz -> RE: Creative control...... (3/19/2010 7:50:16 AM)

ranja, we all know that smoking is bad for your health but its personal choice and these people are adults.
What if they have a smoking fetish? Its not up to us to tell them. They already know.
The question was about reward and that was given as an example and whilst I can imagine people sitting with their mouths open if someone came on and said their reward was a good dose of ketamin, this is a legal drug that can be bought over the counter on just about every high street in the world.

RealSub58 -> RE: Creative control...... (5/1/2010 12:35:35 PM)

I'd like to suggest this to my dom.......
possibly he already uses it and I am racking my brain for anything....

positive reinforcement is always constructive.

barelynangel -> RE: Creative control...... (5/1/2010 1:36:28 PM)

I don't know if i would deem positive reinforcement "creative control." Because it implies that negative reinforcement -- i.e., punishment is somehow not creative control. I think MOST relationships of M/s are creative control concept not because they prefer postive or negative reinforcement, but because in order to fully own someone -- you have to KNOW that person, and in order to make the relationship a successful M/s concept, the creativity comes to me in using your knowledge of the individual to compel them into meeting your expectations and standards.

One of my Master's examples of creative control to me was knowing me so well he knew just what buttons to push or how to approach something to get me to release my temper (of which i have a bitch of a one) when he felt i needed too more so in the way he wanted me too when i was trying not too explode. He could read me so well and to me his ability in different circumstances to get me to react to him in the way HE wanted to and HIS control in how i did so was what i would consider creative control or more so creative mastery of what he deemed his.

For the OP's dynamic, it seems a nice reward system.
It could be applied to other items;

good behavior = generic cerial
superb behavior = name brand cerial

good behavior = generic chocolate
superb behavior = name brand chocolate

good behavior = basic cable
superb behavior = pay-per-view

Fuck that! I want shoes!

DesFIP -> RE: Creative control...... (5/1/2010 2:48:52 PM)

The problem with the good vs superb stuff is that as a fallible human being you are going to fail. You will have bad days and need support but instead of getting understanding and help you get told what you don't deserve it. And why, because you had a bad day and couldn't do what was required to get the help. In fact it sets it up that you only get it when you don't need it.

That's not a game I would play. I have no desire to be a trained seal jumping through hoops in hope that this time maybe I'll get a piece of fish.

Oh I'd never jump through a hoop for a piece of fish.  Chocolate, on the other hand...

If you let them smoke, you aren't being dominant. Smoking is gross, unhealthy, and sick. I have made the handful of women I have ever allowed into my life who did smoke, quit. Nasty gross habit.

I concur.

Titanium0Master -> RE: Creative control...... (5/2/2010 1:03:31 PM)

I wonder how ranja would respond to somebody telling her that BDSM is bad for you and nobody should be allowed to do it? Because I can guarantee you there are people out there with that opinion. My philosophy is that as long as you are not hurting somebody else (unless it is consensual of course [;)]) I don't care what you do. Although I don't really care for people who get on their hi horse about their chosen crusade and try to convince the rest of the world that their view is the "right" one.

Anyway, thank you for sharing your experience with positive reinforcement dove967! It has gotten me thinking about ways I can use positive reinforcement in my relationships.

DesFIP -> RE: Creative control...... (5/2/2010 3:58:54 PM)

Titanium, but you smoking causes damage to other people nonconsensually. I am extremely sensitive to second hand and third hand smoke. It causes immediate allergic reactions and sinus/ear infections. Some people who are forced to sit next to a smoker on a bus will have asthma attacks from it.

So where is the consent in there? Because I don't consent to it. Nor the expensive visits to the ENT for repeated treatment, fiberoptic scoping, CT scans etc. Because that is how allergic to it I am.

Beyond that if they're both addicted, then they are both submissive to the nicotine.

Maria, I'm shocked you can buy ketamine over the counter. Here it's stolen from vetinarians or smuggled in from Mexico.
