The Obamacare saga has put the meaninglessness of CBO scoring on the front page.

1. How can the Dems pass a trillion dollar entitlement program and have it scored to reduce the deficit? Include in the bill a two trillion dollar tax hike to take effect in the tenth year.
2. How can the Republicans pass a trillion dollar tax cut and have it scored to reduce the deficit? Include in the bill a two trillion dollar tax hike to take effect in the tenth year.
(I'm trying to be fair, here. It is, in my opinion, a bipartisan problem; or more accurately a problem for all citizens caused by both parties.

So: how do we reform it? Or: should we just do away with it? The manipulation is, I think, certain to become even more egregious.

It's not manipulation it is just unrealistic.

You cannot accurately make a ten-year forecast, and the only reason this keeps getting relied on is for the current politicians in office to use to bolster their causes.

You need only look back to the CBO's prediction of budget surpluses through 2010.
