With Clapton's talent, who needs a soul Whiner? Really? I'd be interested to know where you got that impression. Seriously....a certain interview? Book? He has never struck me that way at all. Some famous people, sure, but not him. Interesting how people have such different impressions from the same things...........luci

Eric Clapton may be the single most overrated guitar player ever. He has not played anything of note since Derick and the Dominoes..... maybe since Cream. He lacks passion. He has been skating for deades.

This of course, is just my opinion...:)

oooooh.. I love Chastain!! One of my FAVORITE venues.. and I assume you mean the Fox in ATL.. another favorite!

I saw Liza at Chastain..damn, what a show she puts on!

(I worked stage crew at Chastain, Lakewood, and other non-union venues in ATL for a few years)

Yes, It was during the Olympics. We had a table right next to the stage. I was appalled at how many people were talking amongst themselves rather than listen to the show. So the girls at our table were singing along and enjoying it. As a little thank you perhaps he pulled us onstage to help sing back up on "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights". We also got to go backstage after wards and hang out for a bit. Best fun I ever had.

Although the best show I ever attended at the Fox was Phantom of the Opera. First row center balcony when the chandelier comes whizzing past it is close enough to reach out and touch.

ooooh... I saw Phantom in Nashville.. not as elaborate as the Fox, but still an awesome show.  I saw JCS at the Fox.. quite few shows there, actually.

My Mom saw the Rockettes there this past Christmas ......

it is an awesome venue.  I'd love to be turned loose in there to explore the rooms, nooks and crannies....

I won tickets to see Ozzie with Anthrax opening for him.  Had Kip Winger sign my pants.  Got fume stoned at Billy Idol (faith No More opening).  Paid over $300 for Bo and I to see Crobsy, Stills, Nash and Young on a reunion tour.  Watched George Strait back stage (I was friends with a DJ).  Had Lee Greenwood sign a book of mine.

I have a wide range of musical likes.

Hmmm. I grew up a mile or so from one of America's larger outdoor venues so when I was a kid, if there was nothing better to do on summer nights you just hopped the fence. By the time I was 15 I had seen hundreds of concerts-that was before playing in the stage and lighting industry for a while and chasing the Dead around the country.
Lets see-a few memorable ones I wouldn't mind seeing again.

Gabriel-82, on the PG plays live tour. Unbelievable.
King Crimson on the discipline tour Levin, Fripp, Belew, Bruford. Nuff said
Saw Return to Forever at Blues Alley in DC-so sweet sitting 10 feet from Billy Cobham.

There are tons more. Most of my favorites involve catching bands on the way up at small clubs-things like seeings Guns n Roses in DC at a shithole dive 6 months before Appetite came out, or seeing Janes Addiction at a local bar. Plus I caught a slew of punk, hardcore and industrial at warehouse parties and raves.

A favorite was seeing Sister Machine Gun, KMFDM and TKK at an all night rave. Got introduced to Skinny Puppy and Contagion the same way.
Good times.

Supertramp Famous Last Words...Toronto Exhibition....very last appearance they made as the full group, no subsitutes please

Eagles...Hell Freezes Over Tour.....Toronto Exhibition....3rd row center....AWESOME

April Wine...anytime

Tom Cochrane....Oshawa Civic Center...can't remember when but he rocks

Rolling Stones...Steel Wheels Tour....Toronto Exhibition to be repeated at, at, at, hell, i can't remember but it was in December
floor seats surrounded by 50,000 people

Coney Hatch, Fist, whoever else happened to play at the chaudiere, known as the chaud, now since closed but had great live acts until the early 80's or so (aylmer QC)

any stage act at the old hotel where i used to be a regular, they had the greatest bar in the basement and the best live acts to be seen at a closer distance (Ottawa ON) of course living 2 doors down from said hotel and being to crawl home was also a good reason to be there.

Can't forget my first ever "rock" concert. All of 14 yrs old, Ottawa Civic Center, the Bay City Rollers. Yes, plaid and all.

And to this day I still have all my vinyl from those years past. Hence, my own living room. LOL.

I wish I could disagree, because there are things I really like about the guy, but.... I can't. Great sound, knows where every note is, but something's just not there, and it hasn't been there since he kicked heroin. I will say, though, that every now and then in a live show he really finds it again. Just can't seem to locate it in a recording studio.

Jawbreaker at 924 Gilman Street. Frenetic.  Brilliant.  Agonizing.  Best crowd energy of any show I've ever attended.

Sonic Youth in '94.  22 minute noise guitar version of Diamond Sea.

For shits and giggles, we went to one of Moz's lounge gigs in Vegas.  We were all on everything but rollerskates and Moz was arrogant, petulant, barely coherent.  It was magnificent.

Mark E Smith at the Croc Cafe a few years back.  So-so set.  He was unaware that his fly was down the whole time.

A Sparklehorse set in some basement in Charleston a few years ago.  RIP Linkous.

Funny how we all have a memory associated with that song. I was 18 and in luuuuuuv with a doctor i worked with. He sang that to me as we watched Niagara Falls.
