For better or for worse, health care has passed. Now all we can do is wait and see if the courts support it, and how many states will pass legislation ignoring it. I just realized we have an even bigger problem though. Already there will probably be about 10 million Americans who receive free health care. The rest will be forced to buy it.

If amnesty passes, there will be about 10 to 15 million Illegal Aliens who immediately qualify for free health care. Very few of them will show enough income on paper to be required to pay for it. Then with chain migration over the next decade at least 30 million more will be added to the free health care roles. On top of that count the babies they will have over the next decade and you are easily looking at 50 million people on the dole.

There is no possible way our health care system is going to withstand that kind of onslaught. It's barely surviving now. Whether you be a liberal who wants Obama's legacy on health care to be successful or a conservative who wants our immigration policies to be decided by the vast majority of legal citizens and restricted, both groups should be united against amnesty.

I would strongly recommend you join www.numbersusa.com which is non partisan and only focuses on immigration issues. The most important thing is for you to contact your friends about the impact amnesty will have on health care. If you are afraid to forward a non partisan issue such as this, then you are definitely part of the problem, not the solution. I've lost 2 relatives on my contact list over this issue, but i still have 15 who have stood by me. I'm not the least bit concerned about losing those 2 people, and you shouldn't be either, especially if you want his health care plan to be successful.

Agreed, I'm 100% against amnesty, I legally immigrated to Australia and my father legally immigrated to the US...maybe I should have just gotten on a boat.

Actually, the wording of the Health Care Reform bill that has just been passed actually forbids coverage to illegal aliens. The famous "You Lie" Wilson statement has been proved wrong by even Fox News.

Considering there is no amnesty bill before congress, why is this even an issue? Obama has come out strong on immigration.

At the time Joe Wilson screamed "you lie" it was in the health care bill. He had intimate knowledge and was well aware that it was in the legislation at the time. I have no doubt it is not there now, but they believe that if they pass another amnesty it won't matter.

Funny how that works....meanwhile it is well known that illegals are actually a win win to the Social Security system...what with paying in under false numbers and never actually recieving benifits.A fact never mentioned during the usual demonization of "illegals"

The reason this topic is even coming up, is that it was rumored to secure a few more votes for health care reform promises were made to move on immigration reform and part of which will be proposals for amnesty to those folks already here. There was a nice protest this weekend on the issue, however it didn't receive much coverage because of the circus surrounding the newly signed law.

There is no way 15 of his relatives would admit to being his relatives.

This is more of the ultra conservative carp that scares the weak minded masses. It helps convince them that Obama wants to take away the beloved America of their childhood.

Amnesty only encourages more illegal immigration. I'd be in favor of amnesty after a 7 year period in a detention centre...but basically saying "hey you managed to survive a few years without being arrested for your crime, congratulations, here's legal residency" is literally rewarding bad behavior.

Immigration laws are there for a reason.

If you took the time to read the ONLY immigration bill before congress, HR4321, you would find out that unlike other immigration bills in the past, there is no mention of amnesty.

What there is in the bill is an increase in the number of Border Patrol and Immigration Enforcement officers.

The only amendment that mentioned amnesty was voted down last november and there has not been any attempt to add another one.

Oh sure, the Dems have got 70 % of the voters pissed off now with this healthcare bill and they *no longer have the Unions on their side* because they'll be taxed 40% on their (Cadillac) healthcare plans and they're even considering something as dumb as amnesty for illegal aliens that *no-one* wants?
They won't get to November.
I am *really* not looking forward to talking to my two brothers who belong to Unions anytime soon! I just know I'm going to have to hold the phone away from my ear.........oh shit, one of them just e-mailed me!!! The Firefighter.

Perhaps you might tell me just what law they have broken? Is it a felony or a misdomeanor or an infraction?
Do you know what the legal immigration quota for Mexico to the U.S. is?

The tax on union health care plans or government employee plans doesn't kick in for another 8 years. Perhaps, this was to ease the pain and get support during the next 2 election cycles?

We already did a once in a lifetime amnesty.

If this would fix Social Security- then I am not per se against it. But- I doubt it would..... the country is un-governable.
