A lot of those states with higher pay have a high cost of living. That's one good thing at least about El Paso. I don't get paid well, but my expenses are low. If a nurse wants to make BANK, he/she should go to graduate school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). They make over six figures. Doesn't interest me, but I thought I'd add it as an FYI to my fellow aspiring nurses...if you're out there.

Every teacher in the state of Wisconsin has a benefit package that is at least double that $10,000 figure.

Gee Servant, do share with us the verification that teachers in Wisconsin have "at least" $20k medical plans.

I'm sure you must have that information right at your fingertips so I'll be waiting on your response.

Or is this just another Rushism that you are repeating as fact?

Oh sure, the Dems have got 70 % of the voters pissed off now with this healthcare bill and they *no longer have the Unions on their side* because they'll be taxed 40% on their (Cadillac) healthcare plans and they're even considering something as dumb as amnesty for illegal aliens that *no-one* wants?
They won't get to November.
I am *really* not looking forward to talking to my two brothers who belong to Unions anytime soon! I just know I'm going to have to hold the phone away from my ear.........oh shit, one of them just e-mailed me!!! The Firefighter.
Your two brothers, who I assume from past posts, are union members they have absolutely no...let me repeat that no fear of being taxed under the "Cadillac plan" tax....Cadillac plans refers to the high end coverage received by CEO"s and such...you are too funny Popeye....most unions, which have been fighting a losing battle to protect their health care plans are behind this.

Just got off the phone. Mike, the Unions have better plans than some CEOs do. "Cadillac plan" refers to a very good plan. The Unions have some of the best healthcare plans in the country!
I didn't ask my brother how much he pays or his deductable as he told me to call him tommorow night at the station. I'll ask him tommorow night.
But he said the guys are *pissed* and also the police unions and the municipal unions!
Things aren't looking too good for Rep. Eddy Markey D. 7th Mass! They're going to "go after him in November!"
And I still haven't talked to the Teamster brother yet. I wouldn't be surprised if some congressional district offices went up at 2 or 3 in the morning.
Those new fire engines have a lot of computer chips in them these days and they're always acting up it seems.
Wouldn't that be funny, one brother lighting them up and another trying to put them out! lol
Mike, as I've said on here many times, *I believe that all Americans should be covered under some type of healthcare plan!* But this is probably not that plan.
It will include cuts in Medicare right?
I've been listening to talk radio for the last two days and there is a LOT of ANGER out there about this! That's all I'm saying.
Now, on top of that anger if Obama tries an "amnesty" for illegal aliens against the wishes of the American People who knows what will happen?
I think it would be such a safe bet that Obama would then lose the House in Nov if he tried it that the bookmaker's in Vegas would be saying, "No Action!"

The thing about politics is that you want The People *with* you, not *against* you!

Cant imagine why your firefighter brother is pissed since they are exempt. And who will be taxed? Last i heard it would be the insurers... the insurance companies.

ETA - not exempt. he has a higher monetary threshold than the rest. But i did see somewhere where they talked about Unions being exempt until 2018, while everyone else gets hit 2013.

Tazzy, that's the point, noone knows, not even Nancy Pelosi!
Everyone seems to lnow that if you have a "good" plan your going to pay for the ones who don't have any plan. This thing is so Rube Goldberg fucked up that Rube Goldburg couldn't figure it out!
And 2018? What's that mean; "Yeah, we're going to fuck you but we're not going to fuck you 'till 2018?" Gee, gimme two of those!
All you have to do is read these boards and you know that noone really "knows" the entirety of what's in this bill and that most probably includes the congressmen who voted for it.
How many people do you know who can read 20,000 pages of technical information, understand even 70% of it and be able to tell other people about it? And Congressmen aren't exactly known for having high i.q.s are they?
And how many of them even read the whole thing? I can garauntee you that Rep "Fast Eddy" Markey (D.) Mass didn't, he drove a popsicle truck before he got elected to congress in '76. I don't even think he can read!
Well, he voted for it and he's going!

Jlf, are you sure that these are current figures? They seem awfully low to me!
My sister is an x-ray tech and she makes $32 per hour plus benefits.
My brother the Fire lt makes about $120k plus bennies and my brother the Teamster makes about $35 an hour I think plus great bennies!
Boy, if so Nurses are underpaid right Takeme!!!
God, I thought they made a lot more than that!

* So-called "Cadillac" plans costing more than $10,200 a year for individuals or $27,500 for family coverage (not counting dental and vision plans) will be subject to a 40% tax on the portion of the cost that exceeds the limit. Though the tax would actually be paid by insurers, it's expected that it would be passed along to plan holders in the form of higher premiums.

if the House amendments approved Sunday pass the Senate intact under the reconciliation process, some other small business provisions will change:

* The Cadillac tax would be delayed until 2018 and apply only to the most expensive plans, making it more of a "Maserati" tax, in the words of Kaiser Health News.

Tazzy, what I thought was going to happen was that the govt would focus on a program for people who don't have insurance or can't afford it or something similar. You know, help our poorest citizens! I'd be all for that.
But, many people who are insured feel threatened because the govt is stepping in and changing what (they) have and you can't blame them, they're pissed!
And how are you going to go after a congressman six or eight years down the road after he's been voted out?
Everyone of these big govt programs always have "Big Promises" don't they? And they ALL come in right at cost or below, right?
I'm in the V.A. system so nothing will change for me but that doesn't mean I don't feel for the people who'll get screwed or don't have insurance.
And as for that congressman the Unions asked him not to vote for this!
He better start thinking about cleaning out his desk after Nov 2nd.

truckinslave -> RE: Healthcare Passed, Now Stop Amnesty (3/24/2010 6:12:07 AM)

"Actually, the wording of the Health Care Reform bill that has just been passed actually forbids coverage to illegal aliens. The famous "You Lie" Wilson statement has been proved wrong by even Fox News."

I'd need to see the language on this. And/or a Fox tape.

My recollection is that there was no requirement for any doctor, hospital, or other provider to ask for, much less require proof of, the legal status of any patient. There were zero guidelines on what should be accepted as proof of being here legally.

Which means, of course, that Joe was right.

Whatever figleaf, if any, is in there supposedly barring illegals has as no more meaning than the one Obama gave Benedict Stupak re federally funded abortion.
