That was an awesome post Braniac. It makes me wonder though...the Roman Empire was conquered by Christ (though not in the two armies meet on a field way) and I wonder if that would actually mean it's a true prophecy...I'm not familiar with all the details about how it's supposed to happen, is there anything that would support the Christianization of the Roman Empire being parallel to the book of Revelations?

• the present was evil and controlled by Satan, and the future was good and controlled by God
  
• God would eventually destroy the forces of evil and pass judgement on those who didn't believe, and this judgement was imminent
  
• they were meant to protest the current establishment and order and provide hope (and sometimes warning) that God was in control and would eventually intervene on behalf of the faithful

Umm, is this what passes for discourse on religion?  I came out with heretical views on the entire dispensational movement (in that it is not founded in Scripture) and I didn't get a torching.  I don't believe in inerrancy and believe that there were 4 authors of the Hebrew Bible (a scholarly point of view.)

She doesn't agree with you, and you don't with her.  Not a single one of us on earth can claim perfect knowledge of this book, since we aren't talking to the author.  You can theorize based on the politics and society of the day.

As an aside, the dangerous thing about apocalyptic beliefs is that some folks will then have no interest whatsoever in averting war, disaster, or resource depletion, and may even encourage activities that bring about their prophecies.

Bullshit, Brainia.  Your facts about Rome and Nero are sufficient to form a theory around, and it's a theory that has been embraced by many within some branches of the faith, but it ignores, as you have continued to do, every bit of the prophecy that doesn't fit.  That amounts to most of the book.  I addressed this before you ever chimed in, and you just keep pretending it isn't there.

All I meant to imply by my remark ,that I did in fact, think were smart....I wasn't being snarky in any way shape or form......you just happen to be smart...and with that last line...funny too!
