Does everyone here assume we all agree with US....we don't ....Canadians enjoy the great differences between our country and our neighbours to the south. A lot of us really do have a problem with the American philosophy that everything they do should be adored by all other nations. We have differences in Canada that define us. We try to be a courteous, polite society that believes that the individual is as important as the whole. We do not assimilate our immigrants but we instead we appreciate all cultures for the positve diversity they provide to our country. We enjoy the benefits of a health care system that allows for every single person to have access to any medical care required. (I know that isn't part of that argument but it is something that defines us apart from the US and we are very proud of it....it is also a reason that many of us will never go down there....we don't need or want the health care expenses ) And most people do not appreciate people with extreme views coming into our country and degrading our citizens because she has a problem with them....most of us would rather tell her if she doesn't like our way of life...and speak to every person with respect and dignity ...then stay home. It's not rocket science. We don't want or need people like that. This has less to do with free speech and more to do with acting like a reasonable respectful human being and granting that to all. If one does not like our ways here. ...the answer is simple ....stay in your own yard and play....we don't like bully's nor people who have reached adulthood who have not learnt how to act like a decent human being...gees grow up.

FR: I think there should be no restriction on speech. That way those assholes who can't keep from acting like assholes make themselves obvious...way cheaper than trying to put a bell on the cat.

~FR First of all, Coulter's speech wasn't canceled by the authorities. According to the Chief of the Ottawa police they saw no violence or threats at the demonstration and all they did was advise Coulter to move her speech to a bigger venue. Now on to "hate speech"...I am against such laws, period. They are the first step of a slippery slope. I am opposed to any sort of censorship, freedom of speech is to important to allow the authorities to curb it at all.

This is a great example of garbage in=garbage out. Coulter rants and raves bigotry and hatred and is surprised when people respond? Hardly. She wants these types of reactions as it guarantees publicity and fuels the sales of her media products. And in an era where school and university shootings have been all over the news, who can blame a campus for erring on the side of caution?
