CanadianGuy -> movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 4:19:08 AM)

Hey all.  I just got back from "V for Vendetta".  I went and saw it alone, on a whim.  I was going to see Fatal Attraction 2 but I felt like a pervert asking for a ticket for 1 to that... :p  Turns out I saw a much pervier choice!  Cha-ching!

Mild spoilers ahead, so if you plan to see it (you should), you may want to skim!  I won't give away much.

The movie was a masterpiece, IMO.  I'm not much of a cultured type - more of a nerd.  Yeah, I liked the Matrix, GATTACA, and Strange Days.  Well, this was kind of a combination of all three.  Set about 30 years in the future in Great Britain (because the USA is little more than a bunch of warring colonies), it depicts one year in the life of a few individuals.  "V", Evey, and a handful of cops and corrupt politicians.  Throw in some classical music, explosions, fountains of blood (confined to one scene for the most part), and a runon sentence with about 50 words starting with the letter V, and you've got something worth seeing!  It has a plot that's simple enough to enjoy and understand, while at the same time being complicated enough so you don't feel your intelligence is insulted.  The vision of the future (culture, politics, religion) is mostly skimmed over, but there's enough interesting detail to give you a glimpse, which leaves you wondering and trying to fill in the gaps.

There was a disturbingly (in a good way) large amount of nastiness going on in this movie.  It was all done in a way that the average vanilla person wouldn't take offense, but for us BDSMers, there was PLENTY of eye (and brain) candy!

- lots of big sharp knives
- rope
- blindfolds / black velvet bags over heads
- handcuffs
- ball gag
- a quick glimpse of some bondage photographs in frames on a wall
- a sinister, dominating, confident protagonist wearing a creepy mask, black cape, and boots who sports an array of weapons, sharp wit, deep commanding voice, and a strong sense of possessiveness
- a girl forced to her knees
- perky nipples pressing against a tight shirt
- a hebephilic (attracted only to girls just out of puberty) naughty priest
- a petite girl with her hair done in ringlets, wearing a very short babydoll dress and high heels, with the intention of seducing the above priest (it worked)
- three guys corner an innocent young woman in a dark alley and attempt to have some fun
- imprisonment
- humiliation
- strip searches
- verbal abuse
- physical and psychological torture
- slapping
- coercion
- a cane
- two pretty young girls find true love (some girl on girl kissing throw in for good measure of course)
- hands around throats
- pulling hair
- probably more that I'm forgetting

Some of this stuff you may have to watch closely for, and it might not be as sexual as I made it out to be by listing it all together like that, but it's all in there.  :)

All this with ZERO nudity or sex.  But trust me, I enjoyed every minute of it!  Not just because of the HUGE abundance of kink, but because it was truly an amazing film.  A little over two hours of brilliance, in my opinion.  9/10.  I would definitely pay the ten bucks to see it in theatre again.

That actually wasn't an attempt at *fun* that was an attempt by 3 cowardly males at gang rape against an unarmed woman against her will. I don't find nonconsensual rape to be *fun* in any way shape or form. But the movie was good, alot better than I had thought it would be.

I like the mind-fuck the hero does to the the lady he saves in the alley. That was fantastic.

If you are looking for good films you should look through a shelf of French films, Romance, The Piano Teacher, Bais Moi etc. There are too many to list. All have good stories and don't recoil from showing visuals.

I'll put V for Vendetta on my list.

Littlepita -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 9:21:47 AM)

We went and saw it a couple of weeks ago. My Joe really liked it for all the symbolism the movie had. I thought it was super lame and just liked sitting in the darkened theater groping on my Joe. [;)]

Driver1961 -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 9:28:48 AM)

He enters laughing............

Good one little Pita.!   You're Joe must be proud of the sex slut in you that overcomes minor disappointments!

smilezz -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 9:32:18 AM)

We saw it on Friday.  It was very political and symbolistic in that way........not a bad movie though.  >smirks<
Thorns loved it and will have it eventually in our movie collection.

Happy Sunday y'all!

This movie had one of the greatest mind fucks in cinematic history. Not as campy as I thought it was going considering it was based on a grahpic novel, but it scored a solid 4 out of 5 stars for me. This is a keeper that we'll be adding to our movie collection when it comes on DVD.

Ah, but the graphic  novel it's based on is superbly done. Alan Moore created "V for Vendetta" and he also did "Watchmen" and "From Hell". Talented chap, into all sorts of magick and ritual.

I LOVE his Swamp Thing stories!

DelightMachine -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 4:41:51 PM)

The politics were actually ridiculous -- the idea of a Christian reactionary Britain is about as realistic as a Communist Alabama. The anti-Christian Right slant was just gratuitous because there was no real reason for it given in the movie. Maybe the graphic novel or comic book or whatever it was has a better explanation.

Then again, actual realism doesn't make or break a movie. I liked it -- except for the mind-fuck part. Even within the movie the main character recognizes that for an over-the-top, assinine move.

I guess the other part I didn't like was that you never get a good explanation for HOW "V" was able to accomplish all that preparation with explosives. But again, you don't need realism to make a great movie. I like caper movies that go into the explanations about how something takes place and do it in fine detail. This is essentially a comic-book movie.

I even liked it despite the stupid anti-Americanism and the infantile playing around with symbolism from the war on terror -- as if we don't have anything to fear from terrorists, just from the governments that are fighting them. Yeah, that's real bright.

I read in Time magazine that the older of the two Wachowsky brothers who made the movie is a transvestite living in Los Angeles with a "dominatrix." Whether they meant domme or pro-domme by that I don't know.

But if you're reading this Wachowsky, it was a pretty good movie, but Phttttttttttttttt! on your stupid politics. May your panties twist like your politics. So there! And thanks for Fargo.

Yesterday, I saw a poster for the movie using the mask and it very cleverly hid that damn annoying smile on the mask, making it look kind of menacing, which was a big improvement.

Well, the OP called it "nasty" but also called it "brain candy" for us in BDSM. I think we can infer that the OP wasn't calling the attempted rape "fun" because he thinks rape is fun. Fantasizing about rape is one of those things that a lot of people do, though, and maybe, just maybe, a lot of people in BDSM. So give the OP a break.

Not your kink? Fine. Play rape is a kink for others. It's not my kink either, unless I can be the one getting play raped. Which would be hot.

qwert -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/2/2006 11:23:23 PM)

I wouldn't say it was "great" for BDSM stuff... in fact most of the stuff listed is and was disturbing... (like the priest)...

I saw feardotcom lately and it had some BDSM scenes.. but nothing spectacular, I wouldn't really reccomend it.

MissZaffy -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/20/2006 2:30:14 PM)

I have to say that V was a rip off of 1984, the actress was wooden and kept forgetting her accent, to list all those bdsm links - can I ask exactly how many times did you watch the film?, bored the pants off slavedoll and I almost fell asleep, perhaps therefore I and slavedoll missed all those references. Film of the year has to be Lucky Number Slevin, with the only BDSM content being in my imagination, big grin!

Wow I saw it few weeks ago and erm I only thought of BDSM once[&:].. ..maybe 'cause I don't try to find bdsm in everything I watch I don't know..maybe I'm just strange..always been strange anyway[8D] I still kind of liked the movie though not that I would really want to watch it again but it's okay if I end up desperate sometime

fastlane -> RE: movie review: V for Vendetta (great BDSM action!) (4/21/2006 4:29:19 AM)

Ropert gave it two thumbs down, but Canadian Guy gave it two thumbs up!

O.K., I'm buying a ticket today....I love that kinky shiat!  Go figure?

Peace, Kevin

Both master and I loved this movie! We'll definitely be getting it as soon as it comes out on DVD. I've seen it three times in the theaters...and when the going price for tickets around here is $10...well, it's worth it to me. After the first viewing, as we left the theater, I said to master, (possible spoilers) "See how much he loved her? He could put her through all that, he could have the strength to watch her suffer and know he was the cause of it, just to help her improve herself. And you say you don't understand what I find so attractive about you." ::laughs:: Master was very pleased with that statement.

Respectfully,
Avalon
