ORIGINAL: subtee Don't you find Obama's stance on what he wants to accomplish dominant in nature? It seems to me he says what he means, and then does it. He was willing to face the wrath (in it's many incarnations, at this point, from ridiculous to violent) for what he wanted to do. He didn't lie (like W and the obfuscation created to engage in preventive war) to gain his objectives. He went ahead with HCR saying voters can boot him if they want but he believes in what he's doing. His recent stance with regard to dissatisfaction and calls for repeal is, "bring it on." He does and says things that are attacked daily (knowing they will be). He doesn't shirk from them. He's not a reed in the wind, he's self assured. Whether you agree with what he says and does, it is rather Dominant, no? Subtee, to ex-military guys like me, guys that didn't serve can never be alphas. As much as I disliked him, John Kerry is an alpha. Obama, Clinton, not alphas. Guys like Obama and Clinton look "up" to guys like Kerry and me. Okay, I sure as hell don't look at someone doing their job as either dominant or submissive in the context we think of the terms..........but to say that guys that didn't serve cannot be alphas and that those that did not serve automatically 'look up to' those that did...........is such a crock of shit. Keep dreaming there Pop. La Tigresse, I didn't say that he wasn't "dominant." Who knows? One would have to ask Mrs Obama, wouldn't they? And I don't think they'd get a polite answer. Remember Geraldo Rivera during Hurricane Katrina? It absolutely kills him that he didn't serve! In Virginia they had (maybe still do) "bootcamps" for CEO's who were never in the military run by former Drill Sargeants and Co. Commanders who'd scream and yell at them and make them run and do pushups for two weeks for which they'd pay big bucks because they thought "something was missing" in their lives. Going to law school, business school or medical school doesn't make you an alpha. Having lots of money doesn't make you an alpha. Do you think Donald Trump is an alpha? He's obnoxious. He's powerfull. He's rich. All through history being willing to put one's life on the line for country, village or clan seperates the men from the boys. Wednesday night I met Paul Thurmond who's running for congress. His father was Strom Thurmond. He's a lawyer at a high powered law firm, went to all the best schools etc. He saw my ballcap that says "U.S. NAVY VETERAN" and said, "I bow to all you people for your service to our country!" Now that said I'm not saying that there's anything "wrong" with not being an alpha. Brainiac, I knew I liked you! You're an alpha female.
