I am happy with who I am and what I am doing. However, I am pretty saddened by where the political discourse has gotten in the country that I love. The scary part is alot of the rhetoric is designed to drive fear into people about the opposition, and it is getting harder and harder to read between the lines and see where the truth lies. Take some of the reports this past week, for example people were reporting the threats that Congressman Stupak was receiving for changing his vote to Yes, and some ignored the fact that he has been getting threats for quite awhile because he was seen as a No vote.

It's not even a new thing, this sense of anger towards the opposition has been building for a few years. Though the internet might be helping to fuel the faster and faster build up of it, with the advent of blogging and being able to share an opinion as fast as we do these days.

For the record I love my country and my countrymen, and even if I disagree with them on every issue, I respect their right to express themselves.

As for myself, just as depressed as ever about the state of the nation I live in, not so much the political wrangling that goes on, that is far from me until voting day comes, but I am more concerned with what I see on a day to day basis, the local and not so local bullshit that goes on, I feel times are changing fast and I am unable to keep pace, I suppose one of the pitfalls of being semi reclusive, either staying in, or out in my locale. My locale being a village seperated from a city by a mile of sea, this in Devon, over the water is the city and all that is in a city, seems more and more alien to the country I live in.

Status: offline 		Tonight my friend Jenny was complaining about an item which when you boil it all down is a non-issue.

In a world of 6 bn people-  having running water- power- food- a roof- is a good thing.

I think the country is on the wrong course- and yes that is frustrating. I also wish I could live in the country.  But if you get down to the nitty gritty- all that is silly.

Being able to shower every day- a warm bed-  so many things we take for granted.

So for the most part- people who refuse to be grateful are not very realistic.

This week- I went to the store- selected foods that people in other places --- or another era would have been decadent.

Even my parents-  did not have it this good.

happy- but maybe restless and uneasy about the future here.

Status: offline 		Overall, I probably have not ever been more content, not so much about where I am now, but with the direction my life appears to be taking. All those crazy ideas seem to be coming together.

I had not been on a motorcycle in about two years. After tearing it apart 17 years ago, the old bike I am rebuilding is days away from trying to start, so that is very uplifting. I went to put on my old leather motorcycle jacket to go for a ride on the bike I just purchased. It has a big American flag patch on the back. It makes me wonder, what does it stand for now? It seems that the U.S.A. has become the U.S.S.A. After some online shopping for a new jacket, I purchased a side of leather from my favorite leather store in Montana, to make my own leather jacket, patterned after a strait jacket of course.... then I will find a big "Don't tread on Me" patch to sew on it.

It's easy to be happy when things are going our way. Real happiness only comes while remaining positive and accepting the challenges, with open arms, when things are not going our way. Made in the U.S.A., still the best way to go. Mandatory health insurance payments, then mandatory vaccinations, then mandatory RFID chips, not exactly the American way.

Status: offline 		You must remember in America as in the UK it is the medias job to over dramatize the news…ratings you know.

The average American has an opinion of course but they are far from radical and their happiness has nothing to do with politics.

Except for Sanity and Brain that is…said with humor of course.

yup and that seems to be the nationwide mood from what I am hearing.  I think their are common law grand juries of the people in literally every state already.

No comparison to a few protesters in the 60's.

Politically I'm not happy at all, though I've not been happy with this government for a long time. Moreso, the older I get.

If there was less government, less military, less of all the bullshit, that these politicians create, I'd have more happy vibes going on.

Obama, just created 16000 more IRS positions, and more paperwork, does that make anyone happy? Well, Accountants probably, and IRS employees. LOL, I thought he was supposed to be improving health care, not engorging the most parasitic part of the government.

Nope, I see very little positive happening in politics. The disappointment just moves around, when Bush was in, it was WAR, WAR, WAR, Terrorist, Terrorist, Terrorist.

Now, with Obama, It is WE, WE, WE, WE, even though a large section of the population contributes nothing, but I'm supposed to be concerned about all of them equally. And more IRS agents of all things, he couldn't have picked a more disgusting group to expand. Now, my health insurance will be monitored by the IRS! I think if I ever get audited, and have to physically come in proximity to an IRS agent, I'll die of a blood vessel bursting in my Brain. They aren't people.  Lovely. Wonder if that won't piss some people off. Oh, and the wars are still going, and nothing of consequence have happened to the financials. Oh, and they still have the interest rate at virtual zero, and the economy still is shit. Hrmmmm, they can't do that forever, and those low interest rates aren't wafting down all that much. Oh, and the debt is exploding, and, IMO, will continue to explode.

Fuck Bush, Fuck Obama, Fuck the Democrats, Fuck the Republicans.


Hey, but outside of politics, and there plans to destroy everything, I'm making more money, than 2 years ago, or even a year ago. Zero thanks to anything the government has done, that's thanks to google, and my personal effort.   So, I'm paying more taxes. My plans are rolling along, and hopefully by the end of the year or so, I should be able to travel full time if I wish (that's my happiness), and or leave this country, or whatever.  I think I'll get everything lined out before they do something else, that will fuck me.

So, actually American politics, is the only part of my life, that I feel nothing good about.

Every other aspect of my "plans" is rolling right along.... LOL. Only something by the government will screw my life up at this point.

Status: offline 		First of all, Happiness is a choice.  I do my level best to remind myself that like attracts like.  Unhappiness, anger, resentment, tends to multiply itself.  The only thing that worries me is that my country as a whole may suffer from a collective emotional depression that would cause it to make ever more poor choices. 

Fear is a powerful thing.  I can look back on my own life and see that the poorest choices I've ever made were mainly fear-motivated.  Staying in a job I'd grown to hate because I feared unemployment.  Staying in a bad marriage because I feared lonliness.  I had to stop and ask myself every time I was about to make a decision "Am I trying to run away or am I running toward?"

The United States changed after 9/11/2001.  We felt fear.  Real fear.  And the President's approval rating went sky-high.  It would seem that Bush won re-election on a campaign of fear and that it worked.  It worked so well that it would appear to me that both sides of the aisle are using fear to motivate a country because it is working.  I presonally find that shameful.  But I believe that if we could just stop being afraid we would also stop thinking in terms of them-v-us.  We all ride on this planet together. 

We warn others about looking through rose-colored glasses, but how can we see anything at all if our glasses are encrusted with the mud we sling at each other? 

I am happy because I choose to be happy.
