I was not Pelosi's biggest fan early on. Especially since she did not effectively lead the Democrats to stand up to Bush and the Republicans in the early days of Democratic majority (in fact, I was hoping Cindy Sheehan would have been more successful attacking Pelosi from her left in 2008). The last two years of the Bush presidency were frustrating because of the lack of spine shown by the Democrats.
That said, Pelosi and Reid have shown enormous resolve and discipline on the health care debate. Of course, I would prefer a Medicare-for-all type single payer system. Perhaps, had the democrats woke up sooner that might have been a part of the bill.
But even so, I have gained a new respect for Pelosi and for Reid through this process. I hope that they realize now that standing up to the Party of HELL NO is EXACTLY what people want.
