CERCKL -> Guidance, Teaching and Research... (4/2/2006 1:33:59 PM)

Damn, did that sound like school or what? I am looking for general input, so that's why this is in this forum, both 'sides' if you will... An element of My role which I take very seriously is to teach My sub, Mentor if you will; one area she looks for guidance in is 'spiritual' awareness as well as the emotional, psychological, experiential, intellectual...This aspect I find very rewarding because not only does it require Me to remain aware of Myself and to continue learning also but because I receive a lot by knowing she has not only learned something but understands it, KNOWS it...an easy example is her own self-worth...one she felt submissive to before and tried to serve for two years who utilized the situation in an abusive manner, to feed his own fragile ego...married, yet wanted her available when he needed to have his own negative views of how the world was out against him and felt better in contact with her to have her validate this and to humiliate her in a destructive manner, tearing her down to build himself up (yes, I use lowercase for Doms I have NO respect for...which is confusing since I also use it for subs I DO have respect for...) called her recently to play the same games and was pissed off when she wouldn't 'play' this game...she called and told Me, so proud of how she dealt with the situation...and I was proud of her... she also is seeking growth from Me, again in a variety of arenas...My point is, reading another thread where a Dom was ridiculed for having His sub do research in an area where He should have the knowledge already...personally, I feel that there are many ways to help another to learn; writing, reading, experiential etc and to Me they are all legit depending on the student and the situation and the outcome...some of My teaching comes from talking, stories as well as having lotus read, write...why would ANYONE feel this is a weakness? I know all D/s relationships are different, just like any relationship is, depending on the situation and setting...sometimes the judgemental attitudes both amuse Me (especially if they are My own...chuckle.) and irritate Me...but placing My own judgements aside, what do you feel about the role of teaching in your situation? Namaste, C
