I'm a fairly self-confident person, in that I know if I put my mind to something, I can figure out how to do it, and get it done. I have faith in myself and my abilities. In short, I'm fairly self-efficient. Why then do I have this need to serve a man?
Which brings me to what I want to ask: Do you think being self-assured makes you a better submissive/slave?

lack of self-confidence, to me, doesn't contribute to my submissive nature. i just simply feel at my best and most comfortable in service to others, to One in particular. i think self-confidence, as it adds to the attraction of any part of a relationship, makes a better submissive...because it helps dispel feelings of neediness and insecurity that can often be the bane of D/s relationships. it also allows for full self-expression and a deeper meaning to the relationship. and a sub who is sure of herself is more likely to be sure of and comfortable in her role in serving her dominant, in my opinion.

Self-assurance makes for a better PERSON. In that, we can all be better, no matter our role, identity or station.

Agreed. Confidence gives us more than we can imagine. I'm very confident as a submissive because I know I can please someone in ways that only I can do.

i agree to everything everybody has said so far... in fact i would say i woz more confident in every aspect of my life when i'm under my Master, than when i'm not, if that makes sence?

Good question.
I think being self assured makes you a better submissive/slave to a Dominant who seeks this in their partners.
But lets say, you find a dominant, who has that 'rescuer' personality trait. Your screwed as the self assured person arent you. As you dont need rescuing. [&o]So its partner specific as to whether it helps or hinders.
I would like to add, that being one of these self assured peeps, i just love it, when im floored by my dominant, who whips the rug from under my feet, and makes me feel very far from self assured! [:D]

I think being self-assured helps in ALL types of relationship.

But we all have confidences and insecurities- including doms.

However it can be quite amusing consider how many subs love to feel helpless and completely lacking in confidence.

Master told me He loved my self confidence.  Liked seeing it in use while watching me with others.

yes.  self-confidence can also help you be a better Domme/mom/daughter/friend/employee/employer/volunteer/person-in-a-relationship, etc.

I believe being self confident make a person a better submissive.  I think seld confidence is very sexy and i have it in myself just because a woman/man is self confident does not mean they are a bad submissive but they don't have to look to their Master/Mistress for every little thing sometime if they cannot get in touch with them they have to make their own descions.
