I had some silver when I was younger.

I sold it to the Hunt brothers and spent the profit on dope from Hawaii. It cane in little cans marked "Coconut"

It was fabulous!

It seemed like a good deal at the time

LOL.

My ex in Chicago did too.  He cashed in a 10 oz bar to get high.  I wasn't mad. I said- at least you got a good price. LOL

Don't be a mug. Gold is the investment of choice for the world in case of hardships to come. The price can only go up, with all the uncertainty around. I have a lot of gold jewellery and my wife has a lot more, much of it passed down, one day it may make a great difference to the lives of one of our children or grandchildren after we have gone, and I must admit I love the idea of one of my grandkids wearing my rings. I have bought my wife a lot of jewellery because I love her, we would like the tokens of that love to stay with our loved ones after we are dust.
Besides, the price you quote is actually at the lower end of the scrap value.

Luckily- I dont have an emergency that requires me to sell any of my silver.  (or gold)

For now.

Dito.

I got one of the gold nuggets from my grandparents after they passed away (most of them my parents exchanged at the bank for whatever reasons my grandpa invested into those bars/nuggets many years ago, but one of them they passed on to my brother and me). I know from my mum what she got for that one at that time she exchanged it which is a nice sum, but unless extremely necessary it will stay where it is.

Over here are many stalls asking you to hand in your unwanted gold jewellery and IF I would have unwanted one, e.g. from an ex or so where I might be more then happy to get rid off it, I would do so...however, if it still has a fair amount of meaning to me and no necessity to sell...then it will stay with me....now as I am not a girlygirl I do lack of jewellery in general anyway...so I don't even need to think about it and my nugget stays with me

Phoenix,

Your grandfather was a wise man.

Not too many people know that an uncle of mine robbed the bank where my grandfathers money was.... before FDIC.  LOL.

and 5 days later........again not a sell recommendation, not a buy recommendation, just hogs getting slaughtered plus some wrong predictions (and may last for a while heaping on more downward pressure for the near future at least)
