I think that what we are talking about here are feminine looking men that are dominant, rather than feminine men who act like ladies.  Feminine looking men are actually the majority of today's pop culture scene.

There has been a lot of controversy in the media of the disappearing classical masculine leading man from Hollywood: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1198460/As-Hollywoods-leading-actors-start-looking-eerily-similar-real-men.html
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704100604575145810050665030.html

Most male Hollywood stars are now feminine (or I should say more feminine) looking man who have dominant personalities or play some dominant character.  Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, and Leonardo DiCaprio are the leading actors in the trend, with there being no replacement for Clint Eastwood and James Dean form of classical rugged type of masculinity.

OK, I'll give you that (tentatively).  We can substitute Marlon Brando, but that should still not change the point.

Though frankly most male hollywood stars aren't to my taste, I like a sort of wild look (long hair, lots of tats) but with makeup and glitter... like I said, Jareth *sigh*

As well, frankly I think their behavior isn't exactly macho nowadays either, too many namby pamby acting heros.

Perhaps an ultra feminine male is the only type of male that would appeal to a lesbian? Simply because he wouldn't be identified by her as masculine. But most heterosexual females aren't looking for their twins but for those who complement them. Straight women prefer masculine men.

Besides it's the basic girl rule, don't date any guy who is prettier than you.

...and I would surmise that most gay men also prefer masculine men (I know I certainly do). In fact, when my partner and I watch porn and see a guy with long hair, I believe the time it takes us to press the next button breaks the speed of light. But of course, we're just one example and I'm sure there are exceptions.

I actually have a problem with my appearance...I am feminine, maybe I am exaggerating but if you look on google at Walter mercado images, i look halfway there, and well, I guess that to us, the problem is the niche we get slammed into....gay doms or bi doms seem to be rugged somehow, but for others, we seem like subs for some reason, like wannabe cd's or tg's....that's why it's so hard to find us, even our own camp seems to sometimes make a couple bad jokes that hurt...

I used to be fairly androgynous when I was younger.  I really enjoyed it, did a bit of drag.  However as I have grown older I have developed more facial and body hair and my shape has changed a bit.  I sometimes miss the way I used to look, but I also find that I tend, now, to be more attractive to the kind of women that I want to attract than I was back then.  I do know that I am strongly attracted to butch women, still, and occasionally to feminine men as well.  Something about those people that blur the gender lines in certain ways just keeps drawing my eyes and my attention.

My wife does.  She has a huge crush on Kevin Smith, and by extension anyone who looks like him.  (although I don't know if he's actually short, he's definitely fat and hairy.)

I'm attracted to men that look like men. Simple. I like strong masculine features. Strong masculine voices. Strong masculine mannerisms.
If he doesn't have these characteristics then I wouldn't give him a second glance.
