Yes, because THIS is the same.

Free speech does not end when the government decides.

Bush had every right to criticize it, as the media had every right to report it.

Now I know how much you enjoy a shopping cart adventure, RML, but let me be sure I have this correct. Are you saying that disclosing a classified program in the war against Al-Qaeda is no different than a radio/tv commentator criticizing the President for domestic policies/idiocy???

Is that really what you want to insist on?

I get annoyed with the "in other words" responses, where a poster will claim statements were made by another person, and then go on for pages demanding they account for something that was never said, or defend a position that was never taken.

Yeah, that's gotta be it, Rich. The administration never even considered national security implications. And Bush has no political agenda, just a deep seated concern for his country.

And you guys like to parrot the "intellectual dishonesty" meme. Geez.

Want to get honest? Without 9/11, Bush would be a forgotten, do-nothing, one term president who managed only to raise the deficit and national debt through ill-advised tax cuts.

Instead, he'll be remembered as a spend-thrift who started two "pre-emptive" invasions on false information and eviscerated Constitutional rights and international treaties under a false presumption of infinite strength, a soon to be permanent Republican majority, and the fantasy that a quick war fought on the cheap would bring instant peace to the Middle East.

And incidentally, Bush's war on Al-Qaeda didn't go so well. We're mopping up the mess now.

Not even a good try, Muse. You will note perhaps that I am seeking a clarification. I have not told RML what he said. I am not building a strawman to go after.

But if you want to get in the cart with RML, I'm perfectly happy to laugh my ass off at you too, when you wind up kissing the concrete.

OK, I'll be more clear.

I'm asserting you are not telling the truth. A passive aggressive approach doesn't change the dishonesty, any more than "I called it first!" changes anything logically when children play that game.

You are, as you do at times, running from the merits of the discussion to personal shots at posters. It doesn't strengthen your position.

Perhaps my assertion is incorrect. If it is, then you aren't as smart as I've been giving you credit for.

How am I not telling the truth, Muse? As I'm reading what pops up on my screen, another poster seems to be saying something very, very stupid. I'm trying to determine if that is what was actually meant. I'm even still giving a little benefit of the doubt after he went all caps to insist it was.

Personal shots??? Moi?

Very nice. That was a major contribution to the discussion right there. If you ever wonder why sometimes teabaggers and the like are not taken seriously, its because of statements like yours , SShhhhh.
By the way, there is a hilarious set of comics about the tea partiers this week in Doonesbury.

Yes.

Do we support free speech only when we think it is relevant to our national goals?

Isn't that the type of thinking that many conservatives are now complaining about?

The Dems forfeited any right to complain about civil discourse. They set the fucking bar where it is, they can live in their own filth. Bed - make - lay.

It's that whole "unanticipated consequences" thing the Democrats just can't ever seem to learn about.

And which party was it that spent eight years trying to dig up any dirt possible on the President for no other reason than their loss of power?

I also predicted the same would happen if Obama was elected.

Maybe I should join the Psychic Friends Network.

Presidential debates, or the health care debates didn't count?

Bush was almost incapable of speaking a coherent sentence without a prepared statement or the use of a teleprompter.  Obama can.

Teleprompters have been used by presidents for ages.  Why did this suddenly become a great evil under Obama?  It's one of the most common insults on the conservative blogs that I've read.

I would love to see Obama debate either Glenn Beck or Rush Linbaugh. No teleprompters allowed.

This whole teleprompter thing is another ridiculous distraction.

It is indeed a distraction, but pretty accurate. One might even suggest it is why he avoids the pressers at the White House, there is no script, and an oddball question might just start another incident requiring a beer summit. For the record I think the President would do fairly well in an organized debate against either of the talking heads.

You know, I generally like to let my threads drift where they may.

But whether someone is dom or submissive should remain on the other side of the site.

Unless you can't make your argument any other way.

Well domi, normally we are on the same side of the aisle, but I have to ask, if you are tired of the political wrangling then why are you posting on a political message board?

Shouting at the rain.

That is all that is accomplished out here. It's fun I guess.

Do any of you think that any of your words have ever had an impact on anyone that you are addressing? Not a chance.

So we utilize it as one of our favorite forms of masturbation because we are to afraid to jerk off while we hang ourselves in the closet.

Poor Mr Carradine.

Speak for yourself.

I have tons of fun hanging myself in the closet and masturbating.

Not sure I entirely agree with you on this, domidearest. Of course it's fun, but I would like to think that occasionally something I've posted has made somebody think, re-evaluate, take sides, or just smile. It's all good.

btw, my experiences here are more like foreplay. You being the resident expert on masterbation, I'm sure you wouldn't know anything about that.
