The thread on sexually transmitted diseases influenced this. I am all for safe sex. Yet, when you're in a long term relationship, the question is how long to wait before you cease to? Now, perhaps you've fallen in love with someone who has told you of his/her STD. That would open up a whole world of questions. First off, would you be willing to pursue it, if you had a huge connection/feelings involved. How would you proceed if you decided to pursue a relationship? What would be the determining factor on if and when to stop using protection?

I don't think you ever stop using protection if you or your partner has an STD. Some STDs are life threatening, others can make you sick or uncomfortable during outbreaks, so you don't want to catch it. Also if something were to happen to your relationship (divorce, death, breakup, cheating) you wouldn't want an STD that can be passed to a new partner.IMHO

Let me add, i don't want to pass my HPV to Hubby even though He will probably never be with another woman because if something were to happen to me i would hate for Him to have caught it and pass it on.
