Is the Pope going to defile the true spirit of his own faith by saying nothing during this Holy Time (one way or another) on the topic of sanctuary within the catholic church for those who prolifically abuse/abused children ?

Probably...

The pope is a joke, as far as I'm concerned.

Oh, he's said something: Pope condemns child abuse as 'heinous crime' That's not his problem. It's his ongoing part in the cover up that's so deeply offensive.

Te Church has already made its statement: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/europe/04/02/vatican.antisemitism/index.html?hpt=Sbin  The sons of bitches actually claimed that the victims of the Church's abuse were akin to Hitler for speaking out.  A church without any compassion or sense of guilt over its own sins.

On behalf of all Jews everywhere, I am pissed off.  The church reached its zenith in John Paul II, a great man who sought to get to know the common people.  Now, it's just a bunch of old men shrouded in mystery, who are too busy living in their cloistered, moneyed world to care about people.

Agreed Steven.
And I am not even Jewish.
In fact, I was raised as Catholic. Now, I have nothing to do with it. It is a shame, because it was once an important community. Nothing is left now but inflexible zealots and men who have no outlet for their sexuality. The catholic church is damn near dead.

The recent congresslady and her husband that suicided- were about to bust a congress UM ring- of the worst kind.  of course it was not quite a real suicide.

One pundit said the militia that was busted last week had some kind of prove of a bounty type of thing- in regards to the above.

I held my tongue- but- this is what I heard.  ..and if you think I care about name calling   heres a song for you .....

DomKen,

I already have posted too much on this dreadful subject.

If you really want the dirt- look up Ted Gunderson,  Former FBI head.   He has all kind of dirt.

Be warned tho.  You wont like what he says.

Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury, expresses his "sorrow and regret" at his remarks over the matter. Unbelievable he should say anything at all and then choose to say this and then appear to put himself on the wrong side of things by apologising.

Well, I heard that Yahweh knocked up a thirteen year old girl without her consent, so you might have something there.

I see the Vatican and it's popes as seeing they have lost their grip on the majority, hopefully biding their time until such a time arises as people come back to the church as they always do,and probably did in the first place that gave rise to the catholic church. What they did not reckon on was their predisposition for the younger members of the church being their downfall. In the past what they did with the younger members went unnoticed, the younger members held no power, but now they do, we are all, ears to what the younger people say and people who were young once.

In all parts of society where those that set themselves out to help and guide the young are scutinised to their suitability in the hope to weed out the unworthy, the priests fall into this category as it is their position also help and guide the young, they should not be immune to what is found because of their belief in an elevated position.

It should be taken if they, the priests and ministers commit the acts they do, then they are no more than the paedophiles we find and imprison in society, they in this civilised society, should not be immune, as if they at all appear to be so, then we know  the church still influences the law makers and prosececutors that govern us all.

If justice is to be done, all those with the weakness they have should suffer the same as others in society and all those that hide these criminals should be seen as common law accomplices.

What one was when they committed their crime, their present position should not hold them safe from the law of any land.

This Rowan Williams is great fun, always saying something controversial because that how he sees his role in life. Otherwise he looks similar to those other arch bishop's that we aren't on second name terms with.

He is the only arch bishop I know of due to his foot in mouth syndrome, I don't even know what other duties a typical arch bishop of Canterbury has beyond speaking out against things? Do they do the accounts, any ideas?

My understanding of those that have lived lives behind cloistered walls, they lack understanding of the world they are there to guide.

Maybe they live with ideals of a bygone age, or an age that never existed, a fantasy that could never exist.

No word of a lie as far as your average Christian is supposed to believe and eloquently put too.

Personally, I don't always believe everything I read, and tend to see that actions speak louder than words. The Bible, in parts, is an interesting read. As a cider baby (from time to time) I think there's something fundamentally wrong with the whole Adam and Eve story ... it doesn't even mention the fermentation process.

If pretending to drink blood and munch on human flesh is OK, then I guess it probably seems perfectly sane to shelter kiddie fiddlers too. Anyone can see what these unholy holy men (they don't like women ... remember) are up to.

How much is the Vatican bank worth again ?

How many poor or starving Catholics are there on our planet ?

Are these issues related ? ... I think we should be told.
