I pay a pretty hefty Homeowners Association Fee to have it taken care of, and if they don't get their asses out there soon, I'm going to be doing some pretty hefty bitching.

Ah...springtime in Connecticut.  Nothing beats waking at 7am to the unnatural sound of multiple mowers/weed wackers/leaf blowers drowning out the chirpping of the birds to make a person long for earplugs.

If I didn't rent, I would choose to have a goat.  Atleast I could make cheese.

I wish I were zoned for goats.

It's my goal in life to bury/destroy as much of the grass in my back yard as I can.  My lot is 100 x 150 ft, and the hill too steep for a riding lawn mower.

Anti-weed mats covered with mulch...get ripped up and blown downhill.  Adding new mulch year after year on the ones that stay put are getting pretty old.  I'm looking at...finding old rugs...mwahahaha, and hammering spikes into them to pin those suckers down, then putting that black rubber chunks mulch down on top of it.  Maybe a hole cut dead center for a tree.

I've planned areas to put down cement...with empty rectangular or square areas to grow carefully chosen flowers.  I'm considering cementing some bench there too, so the wind can't haul it away.

In the front yard, some grass is okay.  I like the look and smell of freshly cut grass.  I have buried a fair bit of it under square terra cotta tiles though (and I add two new rows on per year so the buried area gets larger, lol) under our outdoor table and lawn furniture.  Soon I'll do the same around my vegetable garden.  The lawn mower doesn't have a problem near these.

<wishes again that she could stake out a goat in a new area of back yard each day, lol>

..........................
edit
The no-grow mats are under the fruit trees and cherry bushes I planted in my front yard, not over random patches of grass.  In my backyard are a bit over 50 dwarf and semi-dwarf fruit trees I've planted...the flowers from these are lovely.  Too bad the grass under them...isn't, lol.  Two of these semi-dwarfs are almond trees, and I have two hedges of rose of sharon, lineups of cherry bushes along one of the fence lines, and raspberry and blackberry canes.  Lots of flowers, very little fruit because of the late snows, sometimes to the beginning week of May.

My yard-  is a type of botanical garden.  I once had pics up- but I pulled them due to privacy concerns.   I planted numerous christmas trees.  A few rock gardens and some rose bushes.    People ALWAYS gawk when the pass.  Noting what I am up to with my yard.

I tho- do have injuries- so my activity is at times very limited.

today- I getter' done- simply cause I don't want code at the door.  For the most part- they are not a problem- I do try to be a good neighbor.
So I worked to the weed wacker spent the string.   It is not worth getting out the push mower- which is manual.

So now- I expect everyone will now cut their grass. LOL.    oh well.  I wasn't in a hurry but - it needed done.  I have a southern exposure so- it grew.

The guy who wrote & recorded that song was Mr. Cat's vet in San Francisco.  He loved Mr. Cat & would throw his arms around him & hug him.  Mr. Cat was too dignified for such demonstrations, but would put up with it.  He was a wonderful vet, Dr. Elmo was.

I try to wait till 9am.   Unless the others kept me up all night- then I am hyped up.    Luckily- that does not happen often.

I'm getting real tired of your constant smugness about your own natural thinness, too!
