That might work, especially if Military Spending climbs to 80% or more of our discretionary spending.

I think we should start another war and maybe open a few more bases overseas......too.

I heard a rumor today on the Mclaughlin Report he is going to run in 2012.

Interesting...

But I'd love to see him run.

Jeb Bush was a good governor for Florida.  I'd probably vote for him.  I heard on the Chris Matthews show this morning (or maybe it was Meet the Press), that with exception of Jimmy Carter, its been 150 yrs since a president was not elected for a second term.  It'd have to be a good republican for Obama not to be re-elected again.  The tea party isn't helping.  [sm=2cents.gif]

FR

Another never to trust NBC as if we needed anymore Louve

Taft, one term,
Hoover, one term
Ford, 1/2 term
Bush 41, one term

All Ran, all lost.

Coolidge, Truman and Johnson all could have ran for second terms in their own right but chose not to and in the case of Truman and Johnson, it was because they would have lost.

No problems with your list FDD,except I would like to point out Ford was never elected in the first place...so it wasn't exactly a repudiation by the voters.

Louve00 -> RE: General Petraeus for President in 2012? (4/5/2010 8:34:15 AM)

Well, then I stand corrected.  NBC may be biased, but so is FOX.  What's one to do? [;)]

For the record though, I'd still vote for Jeb and still think the tea party people are scary.  (and the tea party opinion is not just my own, but I do own that opinion.)

Hillwilliam -> RE: General Petraeus for President in 2012? (4/5/2010 8:40:11 AM)

I'd pull for Petraeus in 2012.  Intelligent, conservative, proven leader, knows war and its horror so he wont start something just to prove he has big gonads ala Dubya.

FatDomDaddy -> RE: General Petraeus for President in 2012? (4/5/2010 6:05:03 PM)

Yeah but he was the sitting president and he did run for election in his own right and the American voters said no.

Like I said, its interesting. The only way to the Presidency for the General is through the Republican Party... Petraeus could be a great uniting force in that party.
