If you can get to a WalMart, don't they rent the big carpet cleaning machines? You've got the inverter so plug it in and clean all the upholstery.

The only fabric I have in here, aside of my clothes & bedding, is the driver/passenger seats, the small bit of carpet attached to the bunk floor. Everything else is that fake leather crap. -Lauri

ya! you are not going to continue be on an accelerated course for more wrinkles or yellow teeth, you will be not only better looking but more confident and good smelling! Congrats! I had a light habit i gave up last Sept 2. One thing that helps is to embrace your craving, really focus on it and think of it like a giant tape worm inside of you. the stronger the craving the stronger it's death. you can be happy you are craving because that is the tapeworm dying...

Now that i don't smoke, i can hardly stand the smell. there is not a perfume out there than can cover up the stank. I won't date a person who smokes...great job for finding the strength within!

As far as the smell, spraying with Ozium or Febreeze will help, but it will take time & repeated sprays. Several years ago my dad bought a car from a guy that was a chain smoker. I took one of the sprays & saturated the inside of the car until I could see a fog & let it sit overnight. The next day I did the same with other spray. I kept alternating for about a week, until the smell was basically gone. I realize that you can't do it quite that way, but you still spray it & let it sit while you're eating & stuff.

I have never heard of Ozium, what is it & where can I get it?
I remember about 6 years ago I stayed at a Comfort Inn & my room smelled like stale smoke from me smoking too much & they had a spray that killed the smoke smell. I wish I could remember the name of the spray, they had given me the rest of the can, but it was gone loooooong ago.
I can agree with the smelling better, but when it comes to the teeth, they are always white, LOL they're dentures!

Now I have the issue of dealing with the stale smoke smell in my semi truck.
First...congrats on quitting. That is AWESOME!!!

Secondly...don't laugh at what i am about to tell you. Take the used coffee grounds from a drip coffee pot (leave them in the filter). Put the wet grounds/filter in top of a few sheets of folded newspaper (black and white only). Now put the entire mess into a plastic grocery bag, making sure the grounds remain on top of the newspaper and the plastic bag remains open. Leave it in the truck and replace it when the coffee grounds/newspaper begins to dry out.

I like to put projectiles in my mouth. You know- lips and ..   yikes... nevermind.

Baking soda might help your odors.   I do not care for fabreeze.  When I worked at group homes we used that to cover poop spots.  So- I have an aversion to that perfume.

Congratulations on quitting smoking!  Febreeze can work wonders, especially the multi-task cleaning version. Throw some whole coffee beans around the truck.  The beans really soak up odors.  Good luck!

Lauri,

Another source of the odor in the cab is probably the
heater and A/C ducts and components, heater core,
A/C evaporator, etc..  No matter how much you clean
everything else the air is still flowing through this system.

Fortunately, for you, this is a problem that has been happening in
cars.   So there are some ready made solutions without tearing
all that stuff out of there to wash and deodorize it.

http://autotechrepair.suite101.com/article.cfm/offensive_a_c_systems

General Motors offers a product that may control or eliminate odors in the interior and luggage compartment areas of GM vehicles. GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator is a non-toxic, biodegradable odor remover. This odorless product has been shown to greatly reduce or remove objectionable smells of mold and mildew resulting from vehicle water leaks (as well as customer created odors, i.e. smoke). You may use GM Vehicle Care Odor Eliminator on fabrics, vinyl, leather, carpet and sound deadening materials. It may also be induced into HVAC modules and instrument panel ducts (for the control of non-bacterial related odors).

Lots of info about this if you search for it.

How about calling a local car wash/detailer and asking them for advice?

As crazy as it sounds, the 1 thing that I have still yet to be able to bring myself to do is throw away the remainder of the pack of smokes that I have left

I kept mine too, for years afterward, lol.  In my jewelry box.

It was surprising, when the day finally came when being that close to my favorite cigs didn't give me the shakes anymore.  I only threw them away after the power they held over me was gone.

I'll have to try that coffee bean thing and ozone lamps.  My used vehicle doesn't stink of smoke, but...I don't like the smell.  Maybe I'll burn an incense stick in there, with the windows rolled up, every few weeks.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I've been doing that silly trucking thing again...LOL silly me!
I did finally throw out the remaining pack of smokes & my 2 ashtrays.
I noticed when I had to run the AC the other day that the stale smoke did stink BIG TIME.
I have no way of getting used coffee grounds (yes, this is 1 trucker who can't stand coffee...just tooooo nasty! )
As of today, I am on day 11 of NO SMOKES, but the chantix is killing me. I started weaning myself off of it yesterday & I will be glad to be rid of it that's for sure!!!
Well, time to drive 65 miles to Chambersburg, PA & debate if I'm going to get a room or just stay in the truck. Decisions, decisions.

Sorry, the chantix isn't working out for you.  I used chantix to quit and it helped me.  Although, I used to dream weird dreams...most usually, I'd dream the alarm clock went off, got up, start getting ready for the day, only to realize I had a couple more hours of sleep I could catch lol.

I'm sending waves of good luck to you, in hopes you can keep it up.  Eleven days means you've kicked the chemical need, now its just the habitual need.  I quit smoking a few years back and every once in a while get an "urge".

Your best bet is probably Ozone, and seat covers if they collected smoke. New linens and a pillow won't hurt either.
I believe I saw some sort of Ozone spray at a Flying J recently, I've known the stuff to get rid of smoke smells in the past.

I bought new pillows & here would be today's tip of the day, when your pillows are so old & flat that you have to have 2 per pillow case, then you go buy new pillows, do NOT go buy 3 feather down pillows...LOL they are wayyyyy too flat, alot flatter than the 2 pancakes per pillow case were. Now I have to buy 2 regular pillows to go with the down ones. It just never ends I tell you! LOL
Though my Master is going to replace my teddy bear which has been consuming smoke for 7 years. So I look forward to receiving that in the mail once he sends it. Bunching up a blanket & cuddling up to it just is not the same as cuddling up to my teddy bear that I stole from my son 13 years ago.
Ok, I'll grow up now LOL

StephanMia someone also told me to get Zorbeez or Sorbeez or something like that. They sell it at like Lowes or Home Depot. The hotels use it to get rid of the smoke smell in the rooms, so I'm going to check into that & will also check into the Ozone thing too.
But that won't be happening today. I'm sitting where I have to load staring at a bunch of locked gates. It's 3p.m. here in PA & I can't load until at LEAST 8a.m. oh joy!

You need a better broker or to choose your loads a little better, that sounds worse then deadheading a few hundred miles.

LOL you want to tell my company that? Last week was even better. I unloaded Sat evening & couldn't load until 11a.m. Mon 52 miles away, then drove 534 miles to sit until 10p.m. Tues evening. Got into a fight with the asshole at the window who was REALLY lucky he wasn't by the window or I would have pulled him through it by his nose hairs after throwing my note pad at me & calling me a bitch. That just doesn't work for me, smoker or not. Couldn't load until the next morning 20 miles away, then deliver 2 days later 800 miles away, so yes, this week has just been going fantastic *cough, cough* and as soon as I can find another place to go as a company driver that has what I am looking for, then I will drop this piece of junk truck & the lease that goes with it & run for the doors!
