But it expects you to submit to Your elders parents and teachers, your boss, traditions, if your religious, to your faith leaders such as priests, ect.

and are not police, fire and military entities based on a hierarchy of orders and commands from your direct supervisor/superior? all of which are considered manly, despite the fact being a new constable/firefighter/private entails only taking, and not giving orders.

society looks down on BDSM, not necessarily submission.

I enjoyed reading the responses to my post.

It is easy to say as MagisterCapto does that I should accept my nature and just ignore others. Ah, easier said than done! I do find it easier to admit to my friends in the scene, but even then I would tell them that I was a switch. I guess I had difficulty accepting myself, enjoying submitting to a woman, and serving her.

That I waited years before coming out to my peers in the local Sac community that I was a slave means I lost some great opportunities, I suppose. But society celebrated John Wayne and not someone who dreamed of being a voluntary slave to the Superior Woman.

It has been a struggle, as it goes against virtually everything we've been taught as Americans.

Someone else pointed out, though, that the man who beats a woman, even if she begs him to do so, faces major challenges of his own. Like being arrested for domestic abuse.

I really think that things are changing. Yesterday Ms. Mlicious and I hit another local art fair...she relaxing in her rickshaw, and I serving as coolie. As usual, the folks went crazy for the image. And most of them knew exactly what was going on. When the buggy whip came out, you should have heard the women squeal. A group of ladies asked Ms. M if she could give them seminars. They had a jewelry booth, and Ms. Mlicious spent several minutes posing for pics as the jewelers put various necklaces on her. It was obvious that I was serving my lady, and everybody loved it.

From what I have heard from vanillas, most of them don't understand or approve of male submissives. Now granted, I am not vanilla but, to me, it takes a much stronger man to embrace his submissiveness rather than to just "go with the flow." It's not easy to fly in the face of what "society" considers acceptable. Vanillas don't understand that.

When they see it demonstrated in a strong, masculine and/or physical way, I think the vanilla people can understand it more easily. Sir Walter Raleigh laying that coat over the puddle was a very submissive yet masculine act. And the legend of it lives on hundreds of years later.
