I suspect this might be an American thing-I've never heard the word 'dye' following the word 'egg' before-in my mind the words are entirely unconnected.

Are they eggs-that-come-out-of-a-chicken eggs? Are you supposed to eat them?

Well they certainly do it in America, but it's not exclusive to there. These are my favorite eggs to make, but they take forever.

Yes, fresh from the chickens butt, although my sister's chickens dye the eggs for you.

Are you supposed to eat them?
Yes, you hard boil them before you dye them. Well some people do. I read on the boards that someone accidentally soft boiled them, but that was a mistake. You can also poke a hole in the end and clean out the egg before, but that is if you are going to want to keep the egg for a while I think.

BK...i SO appreciate this!! My little one has allergies to the Easter egg dyes and this is an awesome idea for next year.

The ties can probably be purchased at Goodwill for almost nothing.

As the question was answered, I'll forgo doing the same. :)

Pysanki eggs are gorgeous, my mother used to collect them. There was this black, red, blue and purple one in particular that I loved to just stare at and hold. It fascinated me.

I think that's why I like this tie idea, it's kind of like a simplified pysanki egg. :)

The peeps... Uhm... LOL! That is absolutely awesome! I have GOT to try that!
