I've been hearing about this coming for years and years, it's a problem at a state level because there's little choice but to raise taxes to make up the current shortfall, even if they do reform the system...and people can so easily move state. Federal govt will possibly have to step in, leading to even larger subsidising of red states (mostly) by blue states (mostly).

in 3 years PA gets pounded by this.

IL is - well my family is pretty vocal over the state lately.

Kind of makes you wonder if the "Big Contraction" doomsayers are right this time around.

I think Ron Paul was right, when he looked Ben Bernanke right in the eyes and asked him how we are going to solve the problem of excessive debt, with more debt. Kudos to Paul on that one. However, I think Paul is misguided in thinking that a commodity-based monetary system will solve our problems.

It will have to start with state employees taking some cuts in pay, and start to pay more towards their health care plans.

Most state and muninciple employees seem to think that they should excempt from taking any kind of cuts. At the same time tax payers who are layed off or out of work all together pay more every year to support these prima donnas..
