Phoenix73Sir -> Hypnosis... where to begin learning. (4/5/2010 5:13:39 PM)

I've looked through 5 pages of post results from the search feature but I have yet to find any recommended reading to begin learning how to perform and use hypnosis safely and effectively.

I realise that the techniques take years of training to use correctly but everything has to begin somewhere. Therefore I was wondering if anyone could supply good reliable links or reading recommendations to start that journey.

I'd suggest you focus on vanilla sites or classes, since the BDSM resources I've seen generally assume prior knowledge of the basic techniques, and instead focus on applying them to BDSM.

Yeah I would tend to agree there.  I am looking from the perspective of someone who knows zero about the subject so would need to begin right at the start

Hey, Google is your friend. [;)] See if there are any local workshops on the topic - I personally think it would be the kind of thing that's easier to learn in person than by reading. I have some friends who use hypnotism in their BDSM, but I haven't personally experimented with it much.

Hello!

I'd suggest "Look into my eyes" by Peter Masters (ISBN 1-890159-28-X) - It's a really good introduction to hypnosis (and focusses on sexy hypnosis rather than the "you are a chicken" brand).

It's not going to turn you into a master hypnotist by any means,  I'm with Andalusite, when she says hypnosis is best learnt in person but it'll give you more information about how it works and does include some quite effective (but not harmful) techniques that you can try yourself.

Thank you crazyml.. that was just what i was after.  it could go one of 2 ways.. it could be something  that after reading i want to do, in which case I go into the personal 1-2-1 training with at least the theory already learned, or it could make me thingk that it is way too dangerous and I'd steer clear. I just need the very basics to decide my next step.
