Slavoj Zizek: Anti-Semitism, Anti-Semite and the Jew This is, I think, is Zizek at his best, definitely worth a watch for anyone trying to understand the relationship of anti-Semitism and the state of politics today. The basic thesis is that Anti-Semitism emerges as unrealized class antagonism displaced onto Jewish people as a kind of fetish object (if you ever wanted to know what psychologists mean when referring to a 'fetish object', that's covered as well with a really clear example...) There are a lot of really provocative points made throughout, like Zizek's notion of the Anti-Semitic Zionist. Also, I think he offers some insight into how Muslim religious fundamentalism is constructed in the Western world in a way very similar to how Anti-Semitism works, with this image of religious fervor being used to mask underlying socioeconomic motivations.
