Yeah. You're right. Instead let's give tax cuts on excessive accumulation in the hands of what amount to be not productive people but destructive -- war industry, banking, and arguably the business side of industry. I'm not a Luddite. I don't despise science or industry, just its excess - its physical waste (pollution, poisons) and its symbolic waste (inflation of big money.) Fewer tax credits, more credit credits.

If it were logical, the sides and reactions would be balanced. If anything, that's my only point.

Fact is there is a growing ever-larger minority of people (maybe more) in this country that believe they have little reason to believe anything govt. and what most businesses tell us.

This sets in everyone questioning everybody else, their number, survey, sources. Then we further question motives and because of a lack of discourse beyond each sides walled-in positions.

So one wonders just what is govt. hiding ? Just how much of govt. and law enforcement is behind the scenes avoiding checks and balances ?

Some insiders and informed people from govt. and the military will tell you with a straight face that the CIA is a govt. of its own. Money, operations and missions...unknowable.

Does everything the CIA the military and the FBI do...serve our country's interest ? Do we even know for sure and just how would the citizen really know ?

My late uncle worked for the CIA.

All he would do was smile when I tried to pry.   Not a peep.    Not a hint.    Nothing.

I woke up this morning with a full realization why the both of you reacted the way you did.

Let's review it, shall it?

MM proceeds with an imp of rationality to supplement what is actually a fully emotional response, this somewhat self-righteous 'boot-strapping' rhetoric.

A rational analysis would have noted how the government is in fact already redistributive -- just in the wrong direction. This is relevant; Horatio Alger, on the other hand, is a fetish object. You've chosen a fetish object, dressed in logical clothing.

Actually, if you want to proceed on these naive economic terms, the argument would be that this form of stimulus would in fact prove far more productive in recession times than the conventional mode, giving credit given to the over-credited, that is, the filthy rich, since money given to ordinary people results in a far higher multiplier effect (the money changes hands more and faster).

Thadius, whose posts I find far less interesting, doesn't even feign objectivity. 'AMEN!' -- pure emotion, religious at that!

Now, why this taboo fear of distributing resources to the oppressed? There are two main motivations, depending on the individual. The first is simply fear of falling down, fear of being reduced (again, in some cases) into some kind of property-less sub-prime-mortgage-toting ex-slave. The second is far more embarrassing, and arguably immoral, namely, this joy in the desperation of the bottom, having secretaries and waitresses whose livelihood is in the palm of one's hand, having little children all over the world to make your ugly clothing and caffeinated beverages, etc. etc.

So, this basically is how emotion dresses itself in logical clothing. It's a common phenomenon.

It was more of a judgment than an emotional response.

She read what you wrote and found you to be pompous.

I can't believe you don't get a lot of that.

What did Prokofiev say about laughter?

Something to the effect of, at whenever and whatever we ostensibly are laughing, the real object is ourselves and our own insecurities.

I'm glad that I've struck a nerve to the extent that I've elicited an emotional reaction, now in three individuals.

The truth is, my original controversial post was meant to elicit an emotional response, but its the truth attached to that emotion that's the real object.

Slavery --> Psychoanalysis, Philosophy --> Freedom

Err, uh... keep truckin'!

Should we also let you know when you type something we feel deserves an intelligent response?

I don't think I have that much free time.

And I thought MM was being somewhat self-righteous.

So, yeah, it goes around.
