On using Linux Mandrake .... does anyone else who uses this have any problems with cookies and logging into collarme.com site ???

If no linux mandrake users answer, then i guess it answers my question..

thanks in advance

What you're talking about shouldn't be a Linux/mandrake problem. It should be a browser problem. Which browser are you using? Firefox? Opera? something else?

I haven't used linux in quite a while, and I've never used conqueror (it's the browser for KDE). I'm not sure how conqueror's preferences system works, or if it includes any kind of special cookie support. I know safari, which is based on conqueror, had cookie trouble for a long time, so maybe that's based on a conqueror problem that never got fixed.

You should still be able to download and install firefox or opera though.

Opera can be found at: http://www.opera.com/download/linux/

Firefox can be found at: http://www.mozilla.com/

The before you try to download and install something on your own, did you purchase any kind of support with your mandrake distribution? You might be able to get them to tell you how and where to download firefox or opera, so that you can use it. Or, it might already be installed (is there a Opera, opera, Firefox, firefox, Mozilla, or mozilla file _or_ directory in /usr/local /usr/local/bin /usr/local/sbin /usr/bin or /usr/sbin ? (or it might be one of those names with a number after it, so you might want to "ls /usr/local/bin/[Oo]pera*" and so on.

However, I haven't worked with linux in a while ... and not with mandrake in a very long time. So, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable walking you through the installation process (I'm not sure what package format mandrake uses). You might be able to find help through those web pages, though.

Or, when you download it, there might be a read me file, how-to file, or install file included.

In my experience, Opera is easier for novices to deal with managing, but the free version puts ads up on your screen.

I'll be happy to answer general questions, though.

Mandrake has been renamed Mandriva for about a year now, so it sounds like some kind of browser upgrade might solve the issues you are having. The fact that you are still calling it Mandrake is the give away in terms of a possible upgrade issue.

As previously mentioned, alternative browsers might be the way to go.

Opera's free version no longer places banner ads your screen, but I haven't done a recent install to confirm this fact.

I really like running Firefox, which I use on my Windows and Linux (Debian install) partitions.  I've had no problems at all.
